Yoga. As a parent, we need a little “me” time. Yoga is the perfect way to relax, meditate, stretch, meet other people, and have fun. We are very lucky to have so many opportunities to enjoy some free outdoor yoga in Des Moines. I have collected an awesome list of places and dates where you can enjoy some “me” time.

Yoga in the Park – Ankeny

  • Wagner Park; Corner of West 1st and NW Ash Drive
  • Saturday’s 8 to 9 a.m.
  • Memorial Day through Labor Day
  • Social distancing implemented

Outdoor Yoga Summer Series – Clive

All Ages. All Levels. Free

Back by popular demand! Join Clive Parks & Recreation on the Landing for 4 5minutes of yoga under the sky. All sessions are free but please register online. It is a great way to social distance, get some relaxing exercise, and enjoy the outdoors. MaryMcCarthy, ERYT–500, is the owner of “Resilience & Grace” and instructor for the season. Yoga in the Park – Des Moines

Des Moines Parks and Recreation and UnityPoint Health – Des Moines invite you to start off your Saturday with free yoga at Gray’s Lake Park. Join us every week from June 5 – September 25 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. for free classes led by volunteers from around the metro. These classes, taught by volunteer instructors from around the metro, are perfect for all skill levels, from curious beginners to advanced yogi.

Yoga in the Park – Granger

Yoga in the Park is designed for improving community health, energizing, and relaxation. You are encouraged to bring a mat or a towel as well as some water and clothes you can move in. No registration for the class is required, just show up ready to relax, release and enjoy.

Sunrise Yoga at Rose Farm

FREE sunrise yoga every Saturday this summer (June-August)! Class starts each week at 8:00a, and all participants are encouraged to stay after class to scoop up fun goodies in The Shoppe. Please remember to bring your own mat and water bottle (and maybe a friend… or two!)

Yoga in the Park – Waukee

Join local, certified yoga instructors for Yoga in the Park this summer, sponsored by Home Light. Participants 8 years old and up are encouraged to bring a yoga mat or towel, and a water bottle.

  • 8-9 a.m. 8 years and older
  • Please note this class is NOT free. $2 per person.

Yoga on the Commons

Enjoy world-class landscape design, art sculptures, more than 12,000 perennials, and 40 trees as you unwind, relax and rejuvenate. Each week’s practice will be led by a different instructor from the Des Moines area. Classes will be offered as a free-will donation, with all proceeds benefiting DMPA.

Yoga on the Lawn – West Des Moines

Get your Sunday off to a great start with some Yoga on the Lawn! This FREE program is a great introduction to yoga for the beginner and offers new challenges for seasoned yogis. Bring a water bottle and yoga mat and enjoy. Open to all. FREE.

  1. Hi! I have filled out the online form for submitting my event a couple of times now for my kids/family yoga events. They haven’t been included yet in your newsletters. Is there something else special that I need to do to get my event shared?
