Goat Yoga a Bucket List Item for All Ages

Many of us have dipped our toes in some form of yoga. I love how this practice of movement has become a creative outlet for so many. There are tons of ways to practice yoga whether it is hot yoga, outdoors, indoors, different themes, or Goat Yoga!

Goat Yoga has become one of our favorite things to experience during the Summer. I will admit not much actual yoga gets done, but it sure is fun for the entire family!

Our favorite place to visit multiple times of the year, Howell’s Greenhouse and Pumpkin Patch offers Goat Yoga every summer. This fun class provides laughter, goat cuddling and tons of laughter!

Preparing for Goat Yoga

Before you leave for your Goat Yoga class make sure you wear comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting messy and your hair up. The goats love to chew on hair, climb up your back, and remember these are outdoor animals so you may get a little messy during your yoga practice! Make sure to bring your yoga mat or if you are concerned about getting your yoga mat dirty, bring an old beach towel to sit down on.

When you arrive for Goat Yoga

If you are taking Goat Yoga at Howell’s make sure you arrive a little early to check-in and find a spot before class starts. More than likely the goats will be in the pen and ready for tons of cuddles and sniffing. Enjoy yourself and make some friends while you wait for class to begin.

What to expect during Goat Yoga class

Goat Yoga is not like your normal yoga class. You will not get a full 45 – 60-minute yoga class, but you will be lead through some fun poses and breathing exercises. Some poses may include the goats and some may not. Remember to go with the flow!

If you are attending with your children, sometimes they get frustrated because the goats will not sit in their lap and cuddle. I have learned that the more still and quiet you are, they will roam over to you. Some really like to cuddle and be pet, some just like to sniff and climb!

Overall, everyone should experience Goat Yoga at least once in their life and if you really love it make sure you add it to your Summer Bucket List each year.
