Enjoy your favorite movie outdoors in Des Moines, Iowa. Bring blankets, chairs, snacks, and drinks. The perfect social distancing activity this summer! All movies begin at dusk which is around 8:45 p.m. (unless noted). Dress the kids up in their comfy pajamas as well. Clive Drive-In

Clive Parks and Recreation is hosting multiple Drive-in Movie Nights in the Clive Aquatic Center parking lot! The parking lot opens at 7 pm. The movies start at 7:30 pm. The dates and movies currently listed are Spring. We will update when we see the Summer dates released. $10 per car. Register here.

Family Concert + Movie Featuring Terrance Simien

Come for some fun and to celebrate the diversity of our country with authentic multicultural roots music for the entire family from two-time GRAMMY award-winning Terrance Simien and the Zydeco Experience.

For 38 years, two-time GRAMMY award-winning artist Terrance Simien and 8th generation Louisiana Creole has been shattering the myths about what his indigenous Zydeco roots music is – and is not.

Leading his Zydeco Experience bandmates – long time members Danny Williams, keyboards and Stan Chambers, bass, horn players, Lance Ellis, sax and Curtis Watson, trumpet, and newest member (2019), drummer Ian Molinaro – Thompson – Simien has become one of the most respected and accomplished artists in American roots music today. He and his bandmates have performed over 9000 concerts, toured millions of miles to over 45 countries during their eventful career. A showing of the film THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG will be shown at dusk, following the concert.

Free Flicks – Des Moines

Free Flicks is a Thursday night series in July of outdoor movies in neighborhood parks. The films will be shown on a 25-foot portable screen and begin after sunset. Admission is free for all. Blankets and lawn chairs are encouraged. Specific movies are listed here.

Moonlit Movies – West Des Moines

Join WDM Parks & Rec Fridays in June and July for a free outdoor movie series. Beginning an hour prior to the movie, enjoy activities related to the show and grab a bite to eat from a food truck. Located at the Jamie Hurd Amphitheater.

Movies in the Park – Granger

Granger Parks and Recreation is excited to present Free Movies in the Park. Outdoor movies will be showing at Centennial Park. The film will be shown on a portable screen and will begin at sunset. Admission is free, blankets and lawn chairs are encouraged..

Movies in the Park – Waukee

Enjoy Hollywood’s biggest hits under the stars with Movies in the Park sponsored by NCMIC! Movies in the Park are FREE and provides an abundance of fun. Showtime is at dusk (approximately 8:45 p.m.) in Centennial Park. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, and refreshments, and get ready to make memories with family and friends.

Starlight Cinema – Indianola

Located at Memorial Park at the amphitheater. Concessions will be available. Guests will need to bring their own seating and hand sanitizer. Restrooms are available, but drinking fountains are turned off.

Valley West Mall Drive-In

There are two options to see movies, you can either sit in your car and watch the movie or you can bring your chairs and blankets and sit in front of the screen a 6’x6′ square!

You do not have to purchase tickets for both the square and car spot. You can choose either one when you are ordering your tickets. And the admission price is per car spot or square, not per person, so pack the car tight and pay per carload! View movie showing and purchase tickets here.

Thursday – Sunday and two showings are available.

Showing One = Doors open at 3:30 p.m. movie starts at 5:30 p.m. 

Showing Two = Doors open at 7:30 p.m. movie starts at 9 p.m. 

You pay for each show you would like to attend. 

Valle Drive-In – Newton, Iowa

You can make a small little trip the Valley Drive-In. There is an admission. The kiddos may enjoy a true drive-in movie adventure.
