Zipline Parks in the Des Moines Area
Ziplines are a fun addition to any park experience! My kids love the thrill of gliding through the air and challenging their bodies in many ways while riding them. We also love that they are becoming more and more popular at parks in Central Iowa. In Central Iowa, you can find three different types of ziplines: Dual Ziplines, Standard Ziplines, and Swing Ziplines.
Dual Zipline
Dual Ziplines have both a standard zipline in one bay and then a molded bucket seat with a lock-in harness in a second bay.
Riverview Park
Address: 710 Corning Avenue, Des Moines, IA 50313
Riverview Park is an all-inclusive park with an inviting amusement park theme. Kids love the dual zipline at this playground but also love that there is so much to do here!
Easter Lake Shelter #1 Playground
Address: 2830 Easter Lake Drive, Des Moines, IA 50320
Easter Lake Shelter #1 Playground is a fun nature-themed playground that offers many unique elements to central Iowa. Whenever my kids come here, they always seem to discover a new element.
Northview Park All-Inclusive Playground
Address: 4871 78th Street, Urbandale, IA 50322
Northview Park’s all-inclusive playground is an open space where you can see your children across the playground and is fenced in on three sides. This playground is great for toddlers. The dual zipline is a great place for toddlers to play and gain confidence as they grow older.
Winterset City Park
Address: South St. and S. 9th Street, Winterset, IA 50273
Winterset City Park has an all things Madison County theme all-inclusive playground. It is so cool. You have Madison County Bridges, the Clark Tower and farming represented. The dual zipline fits right in between the large playground and the play tractor.
Standard Zip Line
A standard zip line is what most people imagine when they hear zipline. A round seat is attached to a rope that glides across a stretched cable.
Stratford Crossing Park
Address: 1250 NW Yorktown Dr, Waukee, IA 50263
Stratford Crossing Park, one of Waukee’s newest playgrounds, has a hidden zipline behind the main structure. My kids especially love how well it bounces!
Aurora Park
Address: 2111 1st Ave E, Newton, IA 50208
Aurora Park was one of the first parks in Central Iowa with a zipline. This is a great shady park with a play structure, zipline and a giant boulder to climb on!
Deer Creek Park
Address: 1601 NE Chambers Parkway, Ankeny, Iowa 50021
Deer Creek Park at first glance seems like a typical playground. But behind the equipment is one of the longest playground ziplines in Central Iowa! My kids always have a blast at this park!
Center Grove Orchard
Address: 32835 610th Ave Cambridge, IA 50046
Center Grove Orchard is one of Iowa’s most raved-about orchards. While there is a cost, there are so many areas and activities for kids and parents to discover! You’ll find their Honey Beeline (their zipline) near their combine slide and their giant straw bale pyramid.
Swing Zipline
On a Swing Zip Line, the rider sits in a standard swing seat and zooms around the track.
Mega-10 Park
Address: 802 3rd-6th St, Marshalltown, IA 50158
The highlight of Mega-10 Park is the swing zipline! Your kids will definitely want to spend time taking turns riding it. The main playground structure here offers lots of opportunities to climb and hang from.
Marion County Park
Address: 306 Willetts Dr, Knoxville, IA 50138
Marion County Park feels like a secret hidden gem. My kids love how the swing zipline loops around here in a circle. It definitely requires the use of their strength and teamwork to pull it back to the top. The large playground structure next to this zipline is inviting to kids.
