Ashby Park : A Summer Tradition

Sharing is caring!

Ashby Park is one of my kiddos favorite places to play during the summer.  In fact, it was listed as #26 on my Summer Bucket List.  The reason why?  Ashby Park offers a chance to play in both water and on playground equipment.  On top of this, it offers lots of trees for shade, which gives you a chance to cool off and have a picnic lunch in the hot Iowa Summer.  Ashby Park is located at 3200 38th St in Des Moines.  The next time you are looking for something fun and free to do with the kiddos, definitely check this place out.

Hours are Monday – Friday, 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.Saturday, Sunday and Holidays, Noon – 6:00 p.m.

  1. Been an Iowa resident my whole life and very active in the outdoors yet I didn’t know of a few of these. Thank you for sharing and thank you for being an involved dad that explores with his kiddos!

  2. The hours for the splash pool should read
    Monday – Friday, 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Saturday, Sunday and Holidays, Noon – 6:00 p.m

  3. Just went to Ashby park this morning (6/3/21) and the wadding pool was not filled. Was bummed it wasn’t open.

  4. I know 🙁 I heard there is a huge shortage of lifeguards right now. Hopefully, it will open soon!
