Thomas Mitchell Park in Mitchellville, Iowa
Thomas Mitchell Park’s new playground will instantly wow you! This stacked tower playground invites kids to explore and climb independently while discovering many different nooks and crannies. The main area of the structure has two large tunnel slides from both sides. This playground is much like the new Stonegate Park playground, you can see through the structure and see your child playing.
The backside of the large structure is full of fun surprises. Two bridges connect the structure to a smaller 2-5-year-old playground. Smaller kids love this area of the playground with two smaller slides and different areas for them to climb out. With log climbing structures to giant leaves offering fun light play to a giant dragonfly to climb and bounce on, this playground’s nature theme is spread throughout.

Thomas Mitchell Park has so much more to offer than the playground. This park is by far my family’s favorite place to do a creek walk. The creek is well maintained with multiple stone features throughout. The creek is near the playground but out of sight from the playground.
Thomas Mitchell also has a pond that is open for fishing with a trail and benches around it. There are hiking trails throughout the wooded area also. This is also a great campground with both electric and non-electric campsites.
