Mound Park in Dallas Center, Iowa

Mound Park in Dallas Center, Iowa is a perfect park to highlight small-town charm. This large park is filled with mature trees throughout. The equipment is spread out throughout the park. My kids always seem drawn to the old-fashioned merry-go-round. Nearby a new large ninja-type play structure was built. My kids love having me time as they race through the challenge of completing it.

In another area is a traditional 2-5-year-old structure with several bouncy features nearby. There are also two diggers in a nearby sand pit. There is also an inclusive area with poured-in rubber, in-ground merry-go-round, musical instruments, and saucer swing.

This park is also the hub of Dallas Center hosting many community events throughout the year. The farmer’s market runs on Tuesday evenings throughout the summer here.

Dallas Center Roller Skating Rink

The FREE outdoor roller skating rink highlights why small-town Iowa is a treasure. Tuesdays and Fridays in the summer from 7 to 9 p.m. the rink is open with free skate rentals. In September, it is open on Fridays from 6 to 8 p.m.

Make sure you check out the schedule before you go to see the theme for the night. Participation prizes for dressing with the theme!

Also don’t forget to visit Brenton Arboretum, 25141 260th St, only a few miles away. My kids love discovering all of the frogs here. We also love their naturescape where kids can build and create with all the logs and sticks they can find.
