Christmas Trees in Des Moines
How many of you still buy a REAL Christmas tree every year? White pine, scotch pine, Fraser fir, balsam fir, or concolor fir. No matter the type of tree, the smell of live trees always brings the holiday season into the home. We used to always use artificial trees, but when we started having children I wanted them to experience a new tradition. The great thing about purchasing a real tree is the experience of picking one out and bringing it home. We love the family tradition of searching for the perfect tree for our family to have in our home for holiday celebrations.

Deal’s Orchard

Deal’s Orchard is another fall favorite, but they also have Christmas trees too. You can cut your own tree or select a pre-cut tree. They offer several types that can be your family’s perfect Christmas Tree and you can check out the Apple Barn. The Apple Barn has a fun train, you can do some shopping, take a picture in Santa’s sleigh, get a free cup of hot apple cider, a bag of popcorn, and of course an apple.
Hill’s Tree Farm
19885 Midland Trail, Minburn
Hill’s Tree Farm encourages you to cut your own tree with hand saws they provide, but they will fresh-cut Christmas trees if asked. Each tree is labeled with what type it is. There are also hand-decorated wreaths, greenery baskets, mantle pieces, and more for purchase. Grab a cup of hot chocolate and cookies or enjoy a warm fire and roast marshmallows in their fire pit.
Howell Tree Farm
3129 Howell Court, Cumming
Howell Tree Farm, located just 20 minutes from Des Moines, invites you to come to pick out a fresh tree for your Christmas celebration. Beginning the Saturday before Thanksgiving weekend, you can visit the farm and pre-tag your own special tree. Take it with you that day or call ahead when you’re ready to decorate and they will have it ready for you when you come. Howell’s is a full-service tree farm. They offer tree stands and will cut trees for you. It is a great place for the first-timer. The Howell Family makes it super easy and fun for all! Pinkley’s Red Roof Farms Christmas Trees

We picked our Christmas Tree from Pinkley’s a few years ago. Since then they have sold their farm and are located at a new location in Bondurant. They offer pre-cut trees.
Strautman Tree Farm

Strautman has thousands of options for Christmas trees. Shop in the gift shop, browse ornaments, drink hot cider, and eat cookies.
Miller Tree Farm

You can choose and cut your own tree in their field or choose a fresh pre-cut. Miller Tree Farm offers free candy canes for your children.
Walnut Ridge Farm
1400 Hillcrest Drive, Indianola
Find and cut down your own Christmas tree or choose from preselected trees available. They also offer free miniature train rides on a special schedule.
