Des Moines area businesses and organizations may offer a costume contest, scavenger hunt, live music, food, science experiments, fun games, and more which make it a fun event for all ages! Shottenkirk Chevy
Come celebrate the 3rd Annual Shottenkirk Waukee Chevy Trunk or Treat with us! It’s an evening full of Halloween fun for the whole family, featuring face painting, food trucks, and many more exciting activities. Everyone is welcome, and costumes are highly encouraged!

Waukee Family YMCA
You are invited to join us for an exciting event as families come together and celebrate the season. At Truck-or-Treat, the community will enjoy fun for all ages, including: – Opportunities to touch and explore a variety of community vehicles – Trick -or- Treat – Enjoy seasonal snacks – Play Games – . . . Polk County Sheriff’s Office Fall Festival
October 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Grimes South Sports Complex
Grimes Parks and Recreation and the Polk County Sheriff’s Office are teaming up once again to host the annual Fall Festival on October 12th at the South Sports Complex from 10 am to 2 pm. The festival will be packed with fun activities and booths for kids of all ages, including the Candy Crawl. There will be food trucks, local vendors, games, bouncy houses, and much more. Costumes are highly encouraged!
Halloween in Uptown
October 17 from 4 to 8 p.m.
Uptown Ankeny
Uptown Ankeny’s beloved Trunk-Or-Treat event is growing once more! Come for the candy, in the form of FOUR blocks of trunk-or-treating, then stay for more Halloween frights and delights! Spooky tunes from DJ Big Lare, a costume contest, rides on the Uptown Express, plus more bewitching surprises. Halloween In Uptown is presented by our friends at Veridian Credit Union.
Trot or Treat – Trunk or Treat Through the Horse Barn
October 19 from 4 to 6 p.m.
Menagerie Stables
We will have a spooky fun path through the barn, and stalls will be decorated for a family-friendly Halloween! Walk through the barn, say hi to all the horses, and fill your Halloween bag!
Attendees will receive treats or prizes at each of the decorated stalls. You will also receive one horse snack per admission to give as a treat to a horse of your choosing. We will have games, activities, a selfie station, and treats in our arena!
Admission: $10 per person (we take cash, credit card, or check). No pre-pay tickets are available; tickets will only be available at the door the day of.

Bondu Spooktacular
October 19 from 2 to 4 p.m.
Bondurant City Park
Join us for our annual Halloween event where families can enjoy the Halloween spirit together! This year’s event will feature a costume contest, trunk or treat, activities, games, and more! Organizations and groups are encouraged to set up a booth or participate in the trunk or treat free of charge!
This year’s event will be located at The Depot (Bondurant Trailhead). This event is free and open to the public!

Non-Primrose families are also welcome and encouraged to attend, so spread the word and bring your friends for a night of Halloween fun!

October 23 from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
Fire Station 38 10225 NW 62nd Ave., Johnston
Join community members and trick-or-treat with first responders at Fire Station 38, 10225 NW 62nd Avenue. The Police and Fire Departments will hand out treats from their vehicles and discuss safety during Beggars’ Night. Have your children show up in costumes! This is a great opportunity for families to get to know our Police Officers and Firefighters/EMS members.
After your visit to the fire station, head to The Bridge Church for kid-friendly treats and activities.
Parking is available at The Bridge Church. Enter the parking lot from NW 100th Street. The parking lot entrance will be blocked off at NW 62nd Avenue.

Join Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa on Tuesday, October 29, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. for this free, family-friendly event! Each vehicle in our lot will have its trunk decorated and attendees can walk from trunk to trunk gathering goodies & enjoying festive Halloween decorations. Plus, fun Halloween-themed activities in our garden! Costumes are encouraged to be included in our costume contest, or come as you are!
No registration is required to attend the Trunk-or-Treat event, but we’d love to know if you’re coming! RSVP to help us plan activities and ensure we have plenty of fun for everyone. 🎃

Calling all Halloween fans! The City of Newton is hosting a spooktacular, free, family-friendly event – Trunk or Treat Nightmare in Maytag Park! On Thursday, October 31 (Beggars’ Night), from 5 to 8:30 p.m., dress up in your best costumes and enjoy treats, fun photo ops, a lighted display, and more as you walk through Maytag Park.
