Polk County Candy Crawl

Saturday, October 19

11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Grimes South Sports Complex

Come out and trick or treat with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office at our first annual Polk County Candy Crawl.

Childserve Trunk or Treat

Wednesday. October 23

3:30 to 5:30 p.m.

ChildServe, 5406 Merle Hay Road, Johnston

Childserve’s Annual Trunk or Treat event and Some of the Avengers of the Knight will be there to help celebrate one of the funnest holidays with the kids and see some of the best costumes and creative Trunk ideas Des Moines has to offer.

Trick – or – Treat with First Responders

Wednesday, October 23

5:30 to 7 p.m.

Join community members and trick-or-treat with first responders on Wednesday, October 23 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Fire station 38, 10225 NW 62nd Avenue. The Police and Fire Departments will be handing out treats from their squad cars and fire trucks and will also talk about “safety” when going out on Beggars’ Night.

They encourage the children to wear their Halloween costume. The Police and Fire Chiefs will be voting on the best-dressed pet and child! Photos will be taken at the event and posted on our Facebook page with the winners after the Chiefs cast their vote.

This is a great opportunity for families to get to know our Police Officers and Firefighters/EMS members. We encourage you to come with questions for them and most of all, have a great time!

The Urbandale Police Department’s Truck or Treat

Thursday, October 24

5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

A FREE, family-friendly event hosted by the Urbandale Police Department and Urbandale Public Library. A safe and fun “trick or treating” event complete with plenty of treats, Halloween Trail, dance party and much more!

Food donations for the Urbandale Food Pantry can be made the night of the event!


Thursday, October 24

4 to 7 p.m.

Put your Halloween costumes on and bring the whole family for our 9th annual Homemakers Trick-or-Treat Night! Your kids will love showing off their costumes and filling their bags with fun toys, treats, and goodies—and parents will appreciate the cozy, indoor atmosphere you won’t find anywhere else. So, gather your pirates, superheroes, and princesses to stop by Homemakers for our free Trick or Treat extravaganza!

A free, safe and fun party for the whole family, featuring trick or treating in the church parking lot with lots of activities and candy! Indoor activities too!

Lutheran Church of Hope, West Des Moines

Get your little ones dressed in their friendly Halloween costumes and experience the fun of fall with Lutheran Church of Hope’s annual Trunk ‘n’ Treat!

Children in grade 6 and under are invited to trick-or-treat in the Hope parking lot in a safe, free and family-friendly environment.

Princess Beauty and the Arabian Princess will be joining the fall fun and will be available to meet the entire two hours! We hope to see you there!

Williams Stadium, 1591 E University Avenue, Des Moines

Get your kids dressed in their Halloween costumes and experience the fun of the Blaze & Friends 2nd Annual Trunk or Treat!

Children and families are invited to trick-or-treat in the Stadium parking lot. We will decorate our cars, have music, snacks and give out candy to all who show up. There will be prizes for the best costume and best-decorated cars, trucks, etc.

Car, decorating and prep will begin at 5:00 trunk or treat will be from 6-8

The Iowa Clinic Ankeny Campus, 1410 SW Tradition Drive, Ankeny

Trick-or-treat at The Iowa Clinic Ankeny Campus! Kids (and adults) can enjoy activities, snacks, and games, plus stroll through the clinic and check out your favorite department, physician or staff all decked out for Halloween. Costumes are encouraged! We hope you’ll join us for an evening of Halloween fun!

Come trick-or-treat at the Library with the City departments and IMU! Enjoy a hot dog supper, collect treats, and help us decide which department will win the coveted Silver Pumpkin award for the best-decorated vehicle.

Valley West Mall 

It is Trick Or Treats Night at Valley West MalFrom 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, October 30th, enjoy inflatable rides by Midwest Inflatables, crafts, temporary tattoos and more! All activities are located on the lower level and are free to Valley West Mall customers. Children can come in costume and Trick or Treat from store to store from 6-8pm. For more information call Guest Services at 225-3632.
