Fitness for Moms in Des Moines & Other Resources
Once you have children you know there is little time for much else. We also know how important it is to lead healthy lives and exercise. Luckily, there are a few great groups in the area where you can bring your children with you and get in a great workout!
Stroll Fit is a stroller exercise program created by Sara Albright. She uses High-Intensity Interval Training mixed with walking and running to create an amazing workout. Following the trail at Gray’s Lake or Racoon River Park, Sara leads you through cardio bursts while taking a few stops for resistance training exercises. Her uplifting spirit makes class such an enjoyable experience. Your children will love riding along in the stroller and interacting with the other children in the group! Older children, who ride bikes or scooters, are also welcome! Sara is nationally certified through AFAA (Aerobics and Fitness Association of America).
- Stroll Fit takes place outside at Gray’s Lake and Racoon River Park from March-November.

Strong Moms Strength Class
Strong Moms Strength Class is a workout class for moms and children FREE at Valley Community Center. This class is run by Kristin McManus, who owns Equip Fitness Training. Strong Moms is a full-body workout where your children can join in or play with other children.
BONUS: During class time, Tot Town is held on the other half of the gym from 9:00 am-11:00 am so your children can have some playtime before or after class!
- Strong Moms is held the second Thursday of the month 9:30 a.m.-10:15 a.m.

RecPlex Toddler Time
Now, this isn’t an official group workout but just an idea! The RecPlex in West Des Moines hosts a Toddler Time most Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:00 am-11:00 am. Burn some calories while chasing your little ones around the Hy-Vee Field House. They provide a huge basket of soccer balls, footballs, and kickballs. This is perfect for those cold winter months!

Sometimes getting out of the house isn’t an option. Luckily, Youtube has a plethora of workout channels to check out.
These are a variety of workouts that are challenging and safe for those pregnant and postpartum. They also started making kid workouts too!
This channel has videos specific for pregnancy and postpartum as well as toning and HIIT too. Most videos are 15-30 minutes long. A variety of workouts include low impact, body weight, and more.
This may not be a channel focused on motherhood but it is a great channel for people with not a ton of time on their hands! Most workouts are HIIT style that ranges from 30-40 minutes.
