Witmer Park in Des Moines, Iowa
Witmer Park was dedicated in the fall of 2023 after several years of upgrades. The new neighborhood playground equipment is inviting to kids of all ages. My kids loved how it felt like a traditional structure but had special little elements spread throughout. They loved playing on the ropes to climb on and playing on the roller slide. They also appreciated the small little hill behind the playground. It was the perfect place to play King of the Mountain.
Witmer Park is a nature getaway in the middle of the city. The 19 acres are a delight to explore. The stocked pond features a floating fishing pier. The large paved loops around the park are the perfect place to get steps in and also to bird watch.
