Fall is a magical time of the year, especially at Howell’s Pumpkin Patch, located just 10 miles south of Des Moines off I-35.
Come enjoy a tractor-pulled wagon ride and pick your own pumpkin at Howell’s Pumpkin Patch! Their fleet of antique tractors are making continuous rounds out to the Corn Maze and the Pumpkin Patch, so plan on the whole family climbing aboard the wagons for a country ride, a chance to explore our twisting and winding maze.
Come see the friendly Barn Yard, where kids can see lively goats. They will have baby goat cuddling (starting September 11th- 26th only) Their bathtub train, jump pillow, and NEW corn box are ready for visitors. Over in the Kiddie Korral, they have a special farm playground with pedal tractors, wiggle cars, mud pies, a giant slide, and many other activities.
The gift shop is full of beautiful everyday, fall and Christmas decor, and gifts just waiting to go somewhere special.

Located in Cambridge which is between Ames and Ankeny. It is loaded with fun activities for the whole family including apple picking, a pumpkin patch, farm animals, corn maze, corn pool, jumping pillow, hayrack rides, rubber duck races, hands-on Discovery Barn, and much more.

Deal’s Orchard offers a lot of apple varieties. Check before you go for what varieties are available when. They also offer a beautiful Apple Barn that hosts great gifts, yummy apple treats, and more.
Apple Acres is where all the fun is at which includes jumping pillow, corn pool, goat run, giant slides, duck races, pedal tractors, human hamster wheels, wiggle cars, and more.

The Iowa Orchard is located right in the city, in Urbandale. Do not be fooled by the name, they also have lots of pumpkins and gourds available to pick from. They offer tons of varieties of apples. They also offer pies, apple cider, different sauces, and much more.
The Family Fun Zone is open mid-September through Halloween. Open on the weekends only from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. $5 per person. Children 2 years and younger are free. They also offer tour packages you can sign up for.

The Pumpkin Ranch will be open Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays. On Friday’s they will be offering discounted admission. Children ages 2 years and under are free. The Pumpkin Ranch is known for their Mega Corn Maze, they have a jumping pillow, zip lines, hayrack rides, horseback riding, toddler town, and much more.

Pumpkinville is fun for all ages. Which includes straw train, straw jump, will’s worm, sack races, tug-a-pumpkin, and granary. There are a big maze and mini-maze offered.

Uncle Bill’s Farm in Grinnell, Iowa is the place to take your loved ones to enjoy plenty of family-friendly fun! They have lots and lots of safe, farm-style attractions that many thousands of folks have enjoyed for over 25 years. No matter the weather, the farm has plenty of indoor and outdoor fun on tap as well as several picnic shelters, indoor restrooms (not portables), and free parking. Folks look forward to all the new things Uncle Bill adds to the farm fun each year. There are 10 acres of pumpkins, corn pool, indoor glass beehive, chick incubator & brooder, live entertainment on the weekends, and more. Admission $13 for ages 3 years and older.

This is a definite must-do this fall season. We made a trip to Will Family Orchard a couple of years ago and enjoyed every minute of it. Located just west of Adel, they offer organic apples for picking, a pumpkin patch, farm animals, a cute little store to shop at and paint your own gourd.
They host an Apple & Pumpkin Fest several weekends during the season. Fun activities for children 2 years and older at $7 plus tax. Activities include a corn maze, hay wagon rides, expanded kids play area (giant corn box, kiddie hay bale maze & duck races), toss games. Plus, their friendly barnyard animals will be there to greet you.
