Going to the pumpkin patch is much more than just picking out a pumpkin, it is an experience. Des Moines and surrounding communities offer a lot of options full of pumpkins, apples, activities, mazes and more. Check out the extensive list of pumpkin patches in Des Moines below.

Open September 7 through November 3. Open daily 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

General admission $11 for ages 2 years and older.

General admission includes wagon rides (wheelchair accessible), Corn Maze, playground, sunflower field (September only), jump pillow, bathtub train just to name a few. For an additional cost, they have pony rides, a corn cannon, and a pumpkin cannon.

Located in Cambridge which is between Ames and Ankeny. It is loaded with fun activities for the whole family including apple picking, a pumpkin patch, farm animals, corn maze, corn pool, jumping pillow, hayrack rides, rubber duck races, hands-on Discovery Barn, and much more.

They also have a store with already picked apples, apple cider, apple cider donuts, caramel apples, sauces, and more.

Deals Orchard

Deal’s Orchard offers a lot of apple varieties. Check before you go for what varieties are available when. They also offer a beautiful Apple Barn that hosts great gifts, yummy apple treats, and more. A few years ago we attended the Fall Festival which was lots of fun. This year it will be October 12 & 13. There is a patch to pick pumpkins!

Apple acres where all the fun is at which includes jumping pillow, corn pool, goat run, giant slides, duck races, pedal tractors, human hamster wheels, wiggle cars, and more.

Geisler Farms

Geisler Farms is so much more than a pumpkin patch. Open weekends during September and October. They offer a corn maze, hayride, kids fun zone and more. Prices for pumpkins and gourds vary.

Iowa Orchard

The Iowa Orchard is located right in the city, in Urbandale. Do not be fooled by the name, they also have lots of pumpkins and gourds available to pick from. They offer tons of varieties of apples. They also offer pies, apple cider, different sauces and much more.

The Family Fun Zone is open mid-September through Halloween. Open on the weekends only from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. $5 per person. Children 2 years and younger are free. They also offer tour packages you can sign up for.

The Pumpkin Ranch

The Pumpkin Ranch will be open Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays. On Friday’s they will be offering discounted admission for $7.00 per person. Children ages 2 years and under are free.

The Pumpkin Ranch is known for their Mega Corn Maze, they have a jumping pillow, zip lines, hayrack rides, horseback riding, toddler town, and much more.

Opens September 20 for the 2019 season.

Saturday & Sunday $9.50 per person

Fridays $7.00 per person.

Pumpkinville & Cornmaze

Pumpkinville is fun for all ages. Which includes straw train, straw jump, will’s worm, sack races, tug-a-pumpkin, and granary. There are a big maze and mini-maze offered.

Admission: 

No admission fee into the farm.

Large Maze: $7 per person

Small Maze: $1 per person

Uncle Bill’s Farm

Uncle Bill’s Farm in Grinnell, Iowa is the place to take your loved ones to enjoy plenty of family-friendly fun!  They have lots and lots of safe, farm-style attractions that many thousands of folks have enjoyed for over 25 years.  No matter the weather, the farm has plenty of indoor and outdoor fun on tap as well as several picnic shelters, indoor restrooms (not portables) and free parking.  Folks look forward to all the new things Uncle Bill adds to the farm fun each year. There are 10 acres of pumpkins, corn pool, indoor glass beehive, chick incubator & brooder, live entertainment on the weekends and more.

Open September 16 through October 27.

Wills Family Orchard

This is a definite must do this fall season. We made a trip to Will Family Orchard a couple of years ago and enjoyed every minute of it. Located just west of Adel, they offer organic apples for picking, a pumpkin patch, farm animals, a cute little store to shop at and paint your own gourd.

They host an Apple & Pumpkin Fest several weekends during the season. Fun activities for children 2 years and older at $7 plus tax. Activities include a corn maze, hay wagon rides, expanded kids play area (giant corn box, kiddie hay bale maze & duck races), toss games. Plus, their friendly barnyard animals will be there to greet you
