Kiwanis Park in West Des Moines, Iowa

Kiwanis Park has a charming new playground. This shaded mini neighborhood park features two different main structures.  The main striking feature brings the mountains to Iowa. This compact structure offers multiple ways to climb to the top, including my kid’s favorite switchback belt climber. Kids can find a telescope, hidden animal tracks, and camping gear as they make their way through the different decks and two slides to quickly descend the mountain.

This park also offers a standard 2-5 year old playground. This playground is simple but offers multiple little slides that will be inviting to your toddler. This park also has a couple of auxiliary items, my kids especially loved the seated spinner and the variety of swings. As a parent, I loved that there is a fence between the playground and the sidewalk along Maple Street. While this is not a full barrier, it is a great visual barrier between the playground and the semi-busy road.

Located Near Kiwanis Park

If you want to check out a second nearby park, we recommend Fairmeadows Park down the street at 22nd Street and Locust Street in West Des Moines. My kids love this park; it’s one they ask to go to over and over.

If looking for a fun cold treat after the park, we love to go to Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt a little over a mile away at 4825 EP True Pkwy.
