Kinnick Feller Riverside Park in Adel, Iowa

Kinnick Feller Riverside Park in Adel, Iowa received a refresh this summer. The traditional playground has a nature theme that is inviting to kids. My kids loved climbing up the tree to pretend to camp out in the tower of the playground.

My kids loved all of the new additions to the freestanding playground equipment–a maypole spinner, a saddle seat, a log roll, and a surfer seat to go with the older sitting spinners. I loved trying out the log roll too, reliving my childhood days. My kids especially loved trying out surfing on the surfer seat! We haven’t seen that detail at a park before.

This park has beautiful large trees with several open-air shelters and a beautiful gazebo. The river is nearby but out of sight for children. For Iowa Hawkeye fans, you can see and play on the original field, where Nile Kinnick, played youth football at.

Adel is full of small-town charm. We love getting ice cream at Billy’s Ice Cream Store, 308 Nile Kinnick Drive. At the town square, we also love getting pizza by the slice at lunchtime (or a donut for a fun snack) at River to River Bakery and Pizza, 109 N 9th St.

The Adel Aquatic Center is also a favorite for our family with two slides, an obstacle course, a zero-entry pool, and sprayground! The best part is their family admission price, $25 for your whole family. It is a large family’s dream.
