Gymnastics Classes and Events at Mid Iowa Gymnastics

When it comes to choosing an extracurricular activity for your little one there are many factors that may come into play. I have quickly learned that the number one factor is a safe environment. That is why we love Mid Iowa Gymnastics located in central Iowa.

Mid Iowa Gymnastics is located on the outskirts of Grimes. Easy access for Urbandale, Johnston, Waukee, West Des Moines, Windsor Heights, and Clive communities to be involved. They recently just moved to a bigger facility and now offer over 22,000 square feet of gym space filled with top-of-the-line equipment. Most importantly, their instructors are caring and knowledgeable when it comes to learning the fundamentals of gymnastics and always welcome new people with open arms.

Amelia has been part of Mid Iowa Gymnastics for a while. Whether it be through their Summer Camps or Open Gyms we love Mid Iowa Gymnastics gym. The monthly special events they offer are the perfect opportunity to run, burn off some energy, and play with new friends.

Mid Iowa Gymnastics Classes

Mid Iowa Gymnastics offers classes for all ages starting at just 2 1/2 years old! Girls and boys are encouraged to sign-up. During class, your child will learn basic skills, but will also have fun and make friends! Gymnastics promotes so many things including:

• Strength
• Agility
• Confidence
• Endurance
• and so much more!

Not only does Mid Iowa Gymnastics hold several classes, but they also offer Competition Team. If your child is older and looking for more of a challenge this may be the perfect option for them. The Competitive Team works on progressive skill development, conditioning, and competition routines. They compete at meets around throughout the state of Iowa and the competition season is primarily in the Winter and Spring.

Open Gym

Open Gym is another amazing opportunity for non-members to check out Mid Iowa Gymnastics. Select Saturdays throughout the year they open the gym for kids to come to burn off some energy and practice different skills. The children can use equipment in the gym including trampolines, bars, cargo climbing net, balance beams, tunnels, mats, and more. The hour is unstructured, but there are staff and coaches present in the gym.

This is the perfect Saturday morning activity with the colder temps settling into Iowa. They also break up the times so preschool-age children have time to experience the gym without the older kids. I love that they do this. Take a look at all of their upcoming events on their website.

Birthday Parties

Do you have a child with a birthday in the dead of winter? (Me!) Or a child with a birthday in the dog days of summer? (Also, me!) Hosting your birthday party at Mid Iowa Gymnastics is the perfect option.

Not only do you get the entire gym to yourself, but they also provide someone to help lead the party and clean up after. The instructors will lead the party with age-appropriate activities including balance beams, trampolines, mats, and obstacle courses. They now offer a specific party room and arcade games too.

Bring in any food and decor you want and your child and their friends can experience 1 1/2 hours filled with gymnastics fun. Have special music you would like to play? They have you covered! You can hook your playlist to their sound system and bust a move. The flexibility and ideas are endless!
