Dog Days of Summer at Principal Park
Summer in Des Moines means longer days, sunny evenings, and, of course, cheering on the Iowa Cubs at Principal Park. This year, families have even more reason to visit the ballpark with their four-legged family members. The popular Dog Days of Summer event is back, offering dog lovers and baseball fans the perfect night out together.
Mark your calendars now for this unique summer tradition happening on May 13, June 10, and July 29 at Principal Park. It’s time to grab your furry best friend, a leash, and your love of baseball for an evening packed with fun, community spirit, and wagging tails.

What is Dog Days of Summer at Principal Park?
Dog Days of Summer is a special event hosted by the Iowa Cubs in collaboration with community partners like the Animal Rescue League of Iowa (ARL), Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Paws & Pints, Flooring America, Walter Roofing, and Star 102.5.
The event invites fans to bring their dogs to Principal Park to watch the Iowa Cubs face off against another team. Families with furry friends will watch from a specially reserved pet-friendly section. Once inside the gates, dogs and their owners can participate in a variety of activities designed just for them, including a dog parade on the field (typically an hour or so before the game, exact time to be announced) and the opportunity to win prizes from ARL and other event sponsors.
Not only is this a fun experience for attendees, but it also supports a great cause. One hundred percent of ticket proceeds purchased through the ARL are donated back to pets in need, helping to support animals waiting for their forever homes.

What’s Included with a Dog Days Ticket?
For just $16 per ticket, you will receive:
- Admission for both you and your dog to the Iowa Cubs game
- A commemorative dog bandana
- Access to the on-field dog parade before the game
- Free swag
- A chance to visit the ARL booth for giveaways, raffles, and more
In addition to all of the fun activities, the event is a fantastic opportunity to meet other local dog lovers, support local businesses, and create unforgettable summer memories with your pet.

- Bring waste bags: Be a responsible pet owner and clean up after your dog to keep the ballpark clean and enjoyable for everyone.
- Plan ahead: Gates open an hour before the game, giving you plenty of time to explore the park, participate in the parade, and settle in before the action starts.
- Consider your dog’s comfort: Make sure your pup is comfortable in crowds, loud noises, and around other dogs. The event is meant to be a positive experience for everyone.
