Being Brave As a Parent

Sharing is caring!

The definition of the word BRAVEready to face and endure danger or pain; showing courage.  Do you have to be brave to be a parent in today’s world? YES.  It seems like as a parent there are so many decisions we make that require us to show courage.  So my message to all my fellow parents out there is to be BRAVE.  Just think about some of the choices we have to make on behalf of another little human being.  2 big ones that come to mind our health and education choices.

1. Health – We must decide what is best for our child.  When to take them to the doctor, what medicines to take and all the other things that go along with the medical world.  Sometimes it takes courage to forget tradition and try new things such as essential oils and natural medicines.  But we have to make those choices.  And remember you may get a million pieces of advice but you know your child better than anybody else.

2. Education – Lots of choices here.  Where do they go to school?  Do you homeschool?  Private or Public.  You must decide on these questions.  Be brave, make your own decision and don’t be afraid to go against the grain if necessary.  Do what’s best for your individual unique child.

And the list of parenting choices can go on and on.  Just remember.  Stay calm and BE BRAVE.  I love the lyrics to a song by Shawn McDonald called We Are Brave.  It sums up parenting to me.  It says:

We might bend or even break
The journey’s long, but we will celebrate
When we get through the valley

We’re not defined by the fall
We get back up
Keep pressing through these walls
It’s worth the fight
