Now Closed: Spaghetti Works Restaurant – Kids Eat Free on Mondays
It’s the end of an era for Iowa residents and families! For over 40 years, Spaghetti Works has been serving loyal patrons with all-you-care-to- eat pasta bowls, grilled entrées, sandwiches, the house favorite hot naked sauce with bow tie pasta, and pizzas in downtown Des Moines. Everyone’s favorite unique salad bar included fun toppings such as black olives, green peppers, and parmesan cheese. With daily lunch specials, kids eat free Mondays, and an ideal location at the heart of the historic Court Avenue District, Spaghetti Works has developed a fan base that was heartbroken with the sudden announcement on Monday that the Des Moines location would be closing their doors for good. Employees were notified at the start of their last day and a clear reason has yet to be released for the restaurant’s sudden closure.
We were fortunate to be among the diners enjoying the restaurant’s last dinner service one last time and, despite no formal announcement on social media regarding their closure, the restaurant slowly filled up with hungry patrons seeking one last meal as word of mouth spread. By the time we left, the lobby was full as seating and servers were found for the remaining pasta-seeking patrons.
