PLAYgrounds Cafe is serving up tasty lattes, coffee, cold brew, and more sourced from an Iowa-based roaster Windmill Coffee and it’s oh-so-good!
In addition, you can also find small snacks such as yogurts, juice boxes, cheese sticks, and more in their cooler. Keep your eyes open for Nourished fresh, salads and Jess Desserts goodies on hand soon. In the future, they are planning to expand their menu a bit more and offer hot paninis and other light lunch options.
You do not need a kiddo to stop and grab coffee! Run in on your way to work, on the way to the park, or anywhere else. They welcome everyone to sip on their delish beverages.
Mother’s Room and Amenities
Many parents will jump for joy when they see they have a designated Mothers Room and child-friendly bathroom. Many don’t realize the amazingness of these offerings until they are in public with young children. The Mothers Room can also be used for a calm down space too. PLAYgrounds Cafe is also home to the very first Pluie changing tables in Iowa. These diaper-changing tables self-sanitize!

The Indoor Playspace
The kid’s indoor playspace offers a fun Cedarworks playground that has climbing features, and slides. It sits on green turf and the whole area has beautiful natural light for even the gloomiest days in Des Moines. They also have some fun ride-on toys, wood-balancing toys, and a designated, gated baby area for those that are 0 to 18 months of age.
My favorite, is the kid-sized Tools, Flowers, and Cafe shops for the littlest minds to use their imaginations.
How do we play at PLAYgrounds Cafe?
How does it work? It’s super simple! Head to their website page and book a play session. Open Play Sessions are 2-hours long and are set hours. It is highly recommended you book a session before you go as they do have a maximum capacity. Unlimited Memberships are available too. If you know you will be visiting multiple times a week, this will be the best bang for your buck. Memberships include unlimited playtime for those in your household from 6 months to 6 years. Birthday Parties and Events
PLAYgrounds offers 100% private parties in their space. Not just birthdays! Think baby showers too! There are several party packages available such as ‘The Sandbox Party’ or ‘The Big Slide Party’. They have a package to fit whatever your needs are. Take a look at the options!
