What is Dome for the Holidays?
The Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden is always an oasis all year round to enjoy the outdoors, indoors. New this year the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden is decked out for the season with spectacular lights, themed displays, and family-friendly activities. The highlight is the iconic geodesic conservatory dome, which houses a lush indoor tropical garden that becomes a warm escape during Iowa’s chilly winter months.
Whether you’re looking to admire the lights, take memorable family photos, or immerse yourself in holiday lights, this event is a local treasure.
Spectacular Light Displays
The gardens are adorned with thousands of twinkling lights, creating a magical ambiance. Pathways are illuminated with colorful displays, and the dome itself becomes a glowing centerpiece visible as you drive through downtown Des Moines. Stroll through the gardens to take in creative holiday-themed setups, perfect for photos or simply soaking up the holiday spirit.

Every Wednesday through Sunday beginning November 16 through December 31.
- Wednesday through Friday: 6 to 9 p.m.
- Saturday through Sunday: 5 to 9 p.m.
Some dates are excluded:
- Closed on Nov 22
- Holidays (Thanksgiving- Nov 28, Christmas Eve – Dec 24, and Christmas – Dec 25)
Some additional dates included:

Admission
Adults: $15 per person
Chuldren: $9 per person (under 1 year is free)
The Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden sells timed tickets which is recommended to purchase before you go. It is not required. If you would like to drop in without a timed ticket, you can do that too! Purchase tickets here.
Location
The Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden is located at 909 Robert D. Ray Drive in Des Moines. Just down the road from the Brenton Skating Plaza and the East Village. Do not miss the Holiday Promenade held several Fridays throughout the holiday season beginning Friday, November 22. Park at the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden and make your way in that direction for a magical evening in downtown Des Moines.
