National Night Out 2017

National Night Out happens every year on the first Tuesday in August. This annual event is a time when communities come together with the police-community to create partnerships, children can learn, and much more. Mark your calendars for August 1st this year.

Altoona Christian Church 

6 to 8 p.m. 

Police cars, free ice cream, dunk tank, ambulance, fire trucks, police cars, super heroes, and much more!


Bandshell Park 

5 to 8 p.m. 

See local emergency vehicles, local celebretities in the dunk tank, door prizes and inflatables for the kids! There will also be food provided by Sam’s Club.



6 to 8 p.m. 

Enjoy an Isiserettes concert at Chef’s Kitchen at 6 p.m., free popcorn + water, fire trucks and police dars, free bounce house and pony rides at Snookies Malt Shop, 50 cent ice cream cones at Snookie’s, free hot dogs and snacks at Price Chopper and much more!

Chamberlain Park

5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Food, games, door prizes and more. Bring a book to stock the Little Free Lending library in the neighborhood.

Drake Neighborhood

Drake Park, Des Moines

5 to 8 p.m.

Games, fun and food and meet public safety officers.

Evelyn K Davis Park 

5 to 8 p.m. 

Bring lawn chairs and meet your neighbors. Kids and family activities, free food, inflatables, music and drawings!

Polk City

Polk City Police Department 

4 to 8 p.m. 

Meet the police officers, free entertainment and fun activities for the kids. Free food and emergency vehicles!


Urbandale Police Department 

5 to 7 p.m. 

This is a great event for the entire family! There will be K9 demonstrations, Life flight visit, lots of games and prizes, free bike helmets, the Urbandale Police Officers will be present and much more.


Waukee Public Safety Building

5 to 8 p.m. 

There will be child safety seat check and installation, fatal vision goggle use, fire extinguisher demonstration, kids can use a fire hose, free food, drinks and ice cream.

Windsor Heights 

Colby Park 

5 to 7 p.m.

Enjoy food, inflatables, helicopter display, balloon animals, stickers, coloring books, face painting, spin art, rock wall, K-9 demo, prizes and much more.


Erin Huiatt

Erin is a reliable resource and stepping stone for women and families to find support and make connections within our community. She wants families to feel confident to reach out and ask for help and advice to get pointed in the right direction. She enjoys traveling and exploring with her two children in tow!
