Faux Chicken Nuggets – Vegan Recipe


Most kids that I know love chicken nuggets.  But, what if you’re looking for a healthy, vegan option for making some homemade nuggets?  Tofu to the rescue!  Tofu is packed full of protein and also is a great calcium source for the family.  With this recipe, your kids will never know it’s not chicken!

Faux Chicken Nuggets – Vegan Recipe

  • 1 (14 ounce) package extra firm tofu
  • 1/3 cup soy milk
  • 2 tablespoons mustard
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon nutritional yeast
  • 3/4 cup plain breadcrumbs
  1. Cut tofu into nugget sized portions
  2. Whisk together the soy milk, mustard, nutritional yeast and spices until smooth in a wide bowl. Place bread crumbs in a separate bowl.
  3. Coat each piece of tofu with soy milk and mustard mixture first, then coat with bread crumbs. Fry in oil until golden brown on each side and serve with your favorite dipping sauce.
