Meal planning and prepping weekly is ideal for families. It helps save money and helps families to eat healthy. Sometimes it just does not happen. Sun Basket understands that families may struggle to plan ahead, so they offer an amazing service to help you stay on track!

Sun Basket is a meal kit service that is delivered right to your doorstep. At work? No worries the packaging is engineered to sustain freshness even after it is delivered. Your items should be refrigerated within 8 hours after it arrives to your doorstep.

Within each box are top-quality and organic ingredients with recipes to help you quickly prepare and cook each meal. Sun Basket offers Paleo, Gluten-Free, vegetarian, breakfast and family options. There is surely a menu for each family.

We gave Sun Basket a try and it did not disappoint! We received all of the ingredients for Turkey Tacos with Roasted Red Pepper and Cucumber Salsa.

When you open your box, all the ingredients for each meal you have signed up for are located in a large paper bag, with the title of the recipe on it. We had two meals delivered to us, so there were two large paper bags. Underneath, is a layer of dry ice with any meat below to keep it from spoiling. Unpack your box and place your bags and meat into the refrigerator.

Your recipe cards give you a step-by-step of what you need to do. Everything is measured out for you and all you need to do it wash, chop and cook the meat. How easy is that?!

From the moment I opened my paper sack to when I sat down to eat was about 25 minutes. Everything was included in my bag except for some basic pantry items such as olive oil, salt and pepper.

After I prepared everything, I set out the other ingredients including lettuce, corn tortillas, cucumber salsa, greek yogurt and queso fresco so my family could go through and build their own tacos.

The tacos were delicious and spicy! We used all of our pepper, but in the recipe it mentioned using less if you did not like spice. They tasted very fresh and I loved how it was a new and different meal for our family.

Clean-up was a breeze too! I threw all of my pieces and packaging in my brown bag. Packaging is 100% recyclable and compostable I also did not have many dishes to clean. It’s a win for the Earth and me!

Another great thing about Sun Basket is the fact that their recipes allow for children to help in the kitchen also. We had a busy night full of activities, so my kiddos were not available to help.

Under each recipe in the menu guide, there is a section called “Kids can!”. It give you ideas on how your child can help you when preparing. For example, for this recipe it listed: rinse the beans, juice the lime, crumble the cheese, stir the salsa, and serve the meal. I love how they give you these great ideas to get your children involved.
