Summer Outdoor Movies 2017

One of our favorite summer activities is to go watch outdoor summer movies! Bring blankets, chairs, snacks and drinks! All movies begin at dusk which is around 8:45 p.m. or later, so dress the kiddos up in some comfy PJ’s too.

This year there are LOTS being offered in the Des Moines area and I have broken it all down for you. Make sure you bookmark this page. These are also available on our event calendar.

Movie Night at Jack Trice Stadium

FREE and open to the public. Starts at 7 p.m. Gates open at 6 p.m. Blankets only, no chairs permitted.

Saturday, May 13th – Trolls

Windsor Heights – Colby Park

Located Colby Park at 6900 School St in Windsor Heights. Free outdoor family-friendly movies beginning at dusk. Don’t forget a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy a picnic dinner with family. Concession stand will be available. Rain dates July 21st & August 4th.

Movies in Carlisle 

Movies in Carlisle is located at North Park and the Carlisle Family Aquatic Center. First Fridays of the Summer months. Start at dusk. The event is free but some low-cost concessions will be available to purchase. Bring your chair and/or blanket.

Movies in the Park – Waukee

Enjoy the fifth year of Hollywood’s biggest hits under the stars sponsored by NCMIC Group and Professional Solutions! Movies in the Park is FREE and provides an abundance of family fun. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets and refreshments, and get ready to make memories with family and friends.

Time Dusk, approximately 8:45 p.m.

June 2nd: Storks – Celebrate this fun baby-themed film by donating diapers, wipes, formula and other baby supplies for Waukee Area Christian Services!

July 21st: Trolls – Join in the fun of the Trolls Craziest Hair Contest. Fix your locks up in a wild way. Winners will receive a great prize!

Ankeny Bandshell – Wagner Park

Bring a blanket or chair and your favorite snack! Movies are free and begin at dusk.

Clive Outdoor Movies

Watch a movie under the stars. Bring your blankets and chairs for grass seating or inflatable rafts and swimsuits for in-water viewing. Movies will be shown on an inflatable big screen at specific parks. In the event of bad weather, the movie will be shown indoors at the Special Events Building. Free popcorn while supplies last.

Free family-friendly event. Watch a movie on the big screen at Memorial Park Amphitheater. Bring blankets and lawn chairs. Free popcorn is available. Drinks & candy are also available.

Valle Drive-In – Newton, Iowa

You can make a small little trip the Valley Drive-In. There is an admission. The kiddos may enjoy a true drive-in movie adventure! Check out here to see what is playing and prices.
