Discover Decoration Day

Sunday, May 22nd

Jordan House Tours: 1 pm and 3 pm; $5 adults & $3 students (K-12)

WDM Community Center Band Concert: 2 pm; FREE

Jordan Cemetery Tour: 3 pm; FREE

Discover the history behind Decoration Day at the Jordan House and Jordan Cemetery. Bring a blanket or lawn chair, grab a FREE ice cream treat, sit back and enjoy the Civil War era tunes by the WDM Community Center Band. Children can make tissue paper poppy. This is a great event to share with children the meaning of Memorial Day!

Family Fun Night in Valley Junction

Thursday, June 9th

4 pm – 7 pm

A variety of free activities for the entire family during the Valley Junction Farmer’s Market. Inflatables, a balloon artist, face painting and more!

Princess & Pirate Splash Bash

Saturday, June 18th

6:30 pm – 8 pm

Ages 3 – Adult $15 & 2 and under FREE

Kick off summer with a splash bash at the Valley View Aquatic Center! The Little Mermaid and five of her other friends will be there. A mighty pirate will also be there. Make sure to bring your camera for pictures!

Skateboard X-treme Challenge

Saturday, August 6th

11 am

Urbandale Skateboard Park

Free for all ages!

All ages welcome! This skateboard contest is a great chance for skateboarders to show their stuff and win great prizes. West Des Moines and Clive are working together for this fantastic event.

Retro 1976 Summer Carnival

Urbandale Indoor Pool

Friday, June 24th

1 pm – 4 pm and 7 – 8:30 pm

Water slide, carnival games reflecting 1976 with prizes. Fee $2

Clive Festival’s Big Truck Show

Saturday, July 23rd

Time to be announced

Clive Aquatic Center parking lot

Come and have an up close and personal look at a variety of the big trucks and loud vehicles you see every day roaming around our city streets.

Kids Day at the Dallas County Fair

Thursday, July 7th

3 – 4 pm

All sorts of fun will be offered! A bubble gum blowing contest and pie eating contest. And so much more activities!

Splash with a Princess Pool Party

June 9th & August 9th

6:15 pm – 8:15 pm

Prairie Ridge Aquatic Center

Resident $20; Non-resident $25

Join your friends and favorite characters for a special evening at the coolest party around. Wear your best prince or princess costume over your swimsuit, as you enter a world of make believe with such personalities as Snow White, Snow Queen, Ice Princess, the Little Mermaid, Waverly and more! Characters will vary, based on date and availability. Pre-registration required, limited to the first 150 prince and princesses.

Ankeny All-City Play Day

Wednesday, July 6th

5:30 pm – 7:30pm

The Ankeny Parks & Recreation department invites all residents to participate in the Eighth Annual Ankeny All-City Play Day. Hawkeye Park and Wagner Park will be transformed into a hub of activity to engage the entire community in a variety of free fun activities. Throughout both parks, there will be a variety of activity stations designed for people of all ages including canoeing, dunk tank, basketball, water fights, tennis, arts and crafts, big wheel races, games at the Lakeside Center and much more.


Erin Huiatt

Erin is a reliable resource and stepping stone for women and families to find support and make connections within our community. She wants families to feel confident to reach out and ask for help and advice to get pointed in the right direction. She enjoys traveling and exploring with her two children in tow!
