Spring Break Classes & Camps 2016

Spring Break

Camp Fire: Hantesa Day Camp 

March 11th – March 18th 

Join us for Hantesa Day Camp throughout the fall. Drop your camper off at one of our convenient drop locations and let them experience a day of excitement and learning at Camp Hantesa! Under the supervision of our trained staff, campers make new friends and interact with old ones through engaging programming.
Each day includes transportation from one of our drop sites, a hot lunch, along with a morning and afternoon snack. Check out the fun day themes! $35 per day, for grades kindergarten through 12th!

Climb Iowa 

March 14th & 15th 

March 17th & 18th 

9 am – 4:30 pm 

Climb Iowa camps will introduce young adventurers to rock climbing, but we won’t stop there. Children will learn about trust, teamwork and problem solving while developing their rock climbing skills through interactive games and activities. For ages 7 years to 13 years, $140.

Des Moines Art Center 

March 14th – 18th 

Spend spring break at the Art Center and create your own art adventure! Learn new techniques from artists’ work in the museum, learn to create in clay, or bring to life your favorite fairy tales or fables.

Full and half day camps are available for ages 4 – 12.

Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden 

March 17th – 19th

There will lots of class and workshops being offered during Spring Break! You can learn how to make homemade pizza, nature weaving, leaf printing, or build a miniature garden! You must pre-register for all family workshops.

Kil ‘n Time 

Check out Kil ‘n Time this Spring Break! They will offer different camps including: painting, glass fusion, mosaic,  or hand-buidling with clay. Cost is $47.70 per day or $185.50 for all 5 days. Sign-up quick because there is limited seating!

Lee Cole’s Magicamp 

WDM Community Center 

March 14th & 16th 

9 am – 11:45 am 

You will spend two days learning from professional magician Lee Cole on how to entertain and amaze your friends and family! You will learn tricks you can do anywhere, at any time, and for the rest of your life. All magic material are provided. For ages 8 to 15 years of age, $45.

Living History Farms 

March 14th – 18th 

Experience Spring Break without the hassles of traveling and weather! Sign your child up for a 1-day or 5-day camp full of hands-on, interactive activities, or sign the whole family up for a one-day experience on the 1900 Farm.

Membership Benefits: As with all camps, members receive early registration and a 15% discount off of registration fees. Make sure your membership is up to date!

Prairie Life Fitness

March 14th – 18th 

Spring Break Day Camps (Summer Camp Preview Days) Code: 630 March 16-20 Ages 3-5 and 6-12 Sign up for the week online. Registration ends on March 11. Individual day registrations will be accepted based on availability March 14 through March 18. (Contact the Youth Programs Director, Missi Spurgeon, at 223-5999 or email mspurgeon@prairielife.com) Full Day Camp is $175 for members and $185 non-members, Half days are $75 members and $80 for non members and includes lunch. (non –members pay for camp at least 7 days prior to the beginning of camp to reserve their spot.) Members $40 day/Non-Members $45 day, 1/2day $20 members/Non members $25*** Come sneak a peek during Spring Break! Each day will be a preview of the amazing things we will be doing this summer!! 2 Snacks, juices, and lunch are provided each day. Rescue Camp 

Animal Rescue League 

March 17th – 19th 

9 am – 3 pm 

Spring Break Rescue Camp is an animal-themed day camp at the Animal Rescue League. Campers in 3rd through 5th grade spend three days engaging in animal fun! They will learn about pet care and responsibility, respect for animals and careers with animals while enjoying animal related activities, special guest presentations, animal interactions, crafts, games and more! Mornings will be spent in the Second Chance Ranch with some very lovable barn animals and afternoons will be spent with more traditional shelter animals in our main facility.

Three fun filled days of camp, plus activities, materials and a camp T-shirt. Campers are required to bring a sack lunch each day. A detailed packet of camp information will be provided after registration is complete. $125

Spring Break Archery 

West Des Moines Parks & Rec

March 17th & 18th 

1 pm – 4 pm 

Spend some time at Raccoon River Park Archery Facility! You will have the opportunity to practice your archery skills and possibly learn some new ones! Ages 9 to 12 years, $25.


Erin Huiatt

Erin is a reliable resource and stepping stone for women and families to find support and make connections within our community. She wants families to feel confident to reach out and ask for help and advice to get pointed in the right direction. She enjoys traveling and exploring with her two children in tow!
