My kids had their first haircut experience at Shear Madness in West Des Moines the other day and it was quite different from past experiences. Shear Madness is totally kid friendly and makes the whole haircut experience fun for the kiddos. They just don’t have boring old chairs to sit in, they have cars and airplanes to capture your child’s imagination during the cut. The staff their was also really great making the kids feel at ease. Looking for other services besides a haircut? Shear Madness also has everything to make your little diva feel at home. They offer manicures and pedicure services and can also do Up-doos for special occasions. Shear Madness also does Super Hero or Diva Parties, which my wife claims is where my daughter’s next party will be (Shear Madness Management if you are reading this, how about a Des Moines Parent Discount?).
To know before you go: They have a ton of things you can buy there. From bows to toys and games they a a little bit of everything. So be prepared to tell the kiddos no or bring some extra cash if you feel like spoiling your little one. Also, you can book an appointment by calling ahead but they also take walk-ins.

Final Thoughts: Yes, I would recommend going here for a haircut. Prices weren’t that much higher than going to Great Clips/Supercuts type place and the few extra bucks are worth it for the fun experience for the kiddos.
