Going to the pumpkin patch is much more than just picking out a pumpkin, it is an experience. Central Iowa offers a lot of options full of pumpkins, apples, activities, mazes and more. Check out the list below.

Located in Cambridge which is between Ames and Ankeny. This is my favorite orchard and pumpkin patch to visit every fall. It is loaded with fun activities for the whole family including: apple picking, a pumpkin patch, farm animals, corn maze, corn pool, jumping pillow, hay rack rides, rubber duck races, and much more.
They also have a store with already picked apples, apple cider, apple cider donuts, caramel apples, sauces, and more.
There is an admission price. Ages 3 and up $12.95 Saturday & Sunday. $9.95 Monday – Friday. They also offer a season pass for their fun farmyard. Children 2 years and under are free.
The Farmyard opens September 9 for the season!

Deal’s Orchard offers LOTS of apple varieties. Check here for what varieties are available when! They also offer a beautiful Apple Barn that hosts great gifts, yummy apple treats, and more! Last year, we attended the Fall Festival which was lots and lots of fun. This year it will be October 14 & 15. Do NOT miss it. There will be pony rides, jumping pillow, haunted house, corn maze, wiggle cars, corn pool, food, live music, and lots more.

Lot of pumpkins, mums, indian corn, corn stalks, gourds, antique farm machinery, and more. There is a corn maze, wiggle cars, pedal tractors, hay stacks for climbing, giant slide, corn box to play in and more! Don’t forget the friendly barn yard with sheep, goats, pigs and chickens. Shopping is available, treats, and ice cream.

The Iowa Orchard is located right in the city, in Urbandale! Do not be fooled by the name, they also have lots of pumpkins and gourds available to pick from. They offer lots and lots of varieties of apples. They also offer pies, apple cider, different sauces and much more!
Beginning September 23 through November 5, weekends only (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) they offer hay rack rides, which also include access to the hay bale slide, corn box, tire obstacle course, face painting, and horseshoe toss.
There IS an admission for the hay rack rides. $4 per individual or $15 for a family of 4. No charge for ages 2 and under! There are also tour packages you can sign up for. Check out their website for more information. Of course, there is no charge to walk through their shop and purchase items 🙂

The Pumpkin Ranch will be open Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays. On Friday’s they will be offering discounted admission for $7.00 per person. As always, ages 2 and under are free.
They are Known for their Mega Corn Maze, they have a jump pillow, zip lines, hay rack rides, horseback riding, toddler town, and much more.

Pumpkinville is fun for all ages. Which includes straw train, straw jump, will’s worm, sack races, tug-a-pumpkin, and granary. There is a big maze and mini maze offered.

This is a definite must do this fall season. We made a trip to Will Family Orchard a couple years ago and enjoyed every minute of it. Located just west of Adel, they offer organic apples for picking, a pumpkin patch, farm animals, a cute little store to shop at and paint your own gourd.
There is NO admission, but you do pay for whatever pumpkins you pick and apples you pick.

A small but very fun farm to run play and learn about pumpkins. Corn pit, carousel, corn maze, train ride, lots of furry animals and more. Of course, lots of pumpkins as well!
