Outdoor Storytimes this Summer!

Summer time is the perfect time to enjoy stories and nature at the same time! There are several chances, in the Central Iowa area, to listen to a good book. Bring a blanket, grab a lunch, and enjoy story time outdoors! All of these dates and times are also listed on our event calendar. If you have some to add, let me know!

Outdoor Storytimes

Story Hour at the Park

Tuesdays: May 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th 

12 pm – 1pm

Raccoon River Lodge

Join the WDM Parks & Recreation staff for a FREE hour of story power! Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy and a naturalist shares nature books, stories and games!

Stories in the Park – Clive 

Bring a blanket and sack lunch and enjoy story time in your favorite Clive park!

  • Friday, June 3rd at 10 am – Linnan Park
  • Friday, July 8th at 10 am (Yoga Themed!) – Campbell Park
  • Wednesday, July 27th at 10 am – Country Club Glen Park

Story Walk in Indianola

Enjoy two activities at once while you walk and read the pages of books in Indianola’s beautiful parks!

May 3rd – June 30th at McCord Park: Gossie

July 9th – August 30th at Moats Park: The Buk Buk Festival

Story Walk in Urbandale 

Enjoy two activities at once while you walk and read the pages of books. Located behind the Urbandale Public Library, around Walker Johnston Park.

Children’s Book Week 97th Anniversary

Monday, May 2nd – Sunday, May 8th

Clive Public Library

Children are invited to celebrate by visiting the library anytime during the week dressed up as their favorite book character. Participants will be entered into a mystery prize drawing. One prize entry per child.

Erin is a reliable resource and stepping stone for women and families to find support and make connections within our community. She wants families to feel confident to reach out and ask for help and advice to get pointed in the right direction. She enjoys traveling and exploring with her two children in tow!
