A couple of weeks ago we took advantage of a beautiful Sunday and took a road trip to the Omaha Zoo.

We absolutely love the Omaha Zoo and try to make a visit each year. The drive isn’t bad from Des Moines, about 2 hours or less. They have so much to offer and you could easily spend 2-days there exploring and seeing everything including the exhibits, shows, hands-on activities, splash pad, and more.

We saw  baby gorilla, lots of giraffes, colorful “fishies”, a napping tiger, and much more.

The great thing about the zoo, is you can pack loads of snacks + lunch to help save money. Although, it is fun to grab some ice cream at the zoo once it begins heating up in the afternoon.

The night before, I packed up tons of snacks and sandwiches including our traveling necessity, Stonyfield pouches. They come in all sorts of flavors, are easy to throw in the cooler bag, and Stonyfield just announced a sugar reduction in their yogurts! Hint: Throw your yogurt tubes or pouches in the freezer the night before, then put them in your cooler before you leave. That way they can thaw and stay even colder throughout the day!

Stonyfield is encouraging all families to get out and enjoy the zoo! Now through the end of September, you can receive a free kid’s admission to your local AZA-accredited zoo or aquarium with the purchase of an adult ticket. You must purchase two specially-marked YoKids yogurt multipacks.  Then visit here, follow the steps and get your free ticket! Note: The Omaha Zoo is an AZA-accredited zoo, so is The Blank Park Zoo!
