Saturday Stories: Nearly New Year’s Eve Celebration

Indianola Public Library 

December 28

10:30 to 11:30 a.m. 

Ring in the (almost) New Year at the annual NYEE party. Stories, crafts, and activities.

New Year at Noon

Des Moines Children’s Museum

December 31

9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Celebrate the New Year well before bedtime with us at our 2nd annual New Year’s at Noon! Take a picture in our photo booth, and make a noisemaker craft for the countdown at noon with an apple juice toast, a dance party with bubbles, and an indoor snowstorm. The New Year fun is included with your regular admission, and all of our exhibits will be open to playing for our normal Tuesday hours of 9:30-3:30.

Kids and families! Celebrate New Year’s Eve early with our New Year’s STEM celebration from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM! Participants can make a glitter volcano, color and decorate their own New Year’s glasses, make a confetti popper to take home, and ring in the new year with a balloon drop! For youth ages 5-12.

Noon Years Eve includes jumping, sliding, racing and more. In the end, there will be a Glow in the Dark Balloon Drop. They will hand out noisemakers, hat and do a big countdown. Please register! $10 if preregistered, $12 at the doors. Parents are free.

Celebrate the start of 2020 at North Side. There will be crafts, a dance party, and a countdown to the “Noon Year”!

Why should adults have all the fun ringing in the new year at midnight? Bring the whole family to SCI to celebrate the new year 12 hours early!

Activities:

  • Face painting
  • Balloon twisting
  • A magician
  • Of course, a massive balloon drop as we count down to 2019 at noon!

Noon Year’s Eve activities are included with general admission — always free for SCI members!

Countdown to the “noon” year at Warrior Lanes! Enjoy glow-in-the-dark bowling, concert lights, and black lights. $55 per lane and includes 2 hours of bowling, shoe rental, large 1-topping pizza, and soda.

Not sure you’ll make it to midnight? Countdown the noon year with some Library fun! Dancing, balloons, and more, plus the event concludes with a ball drop at the stroke of noon.

Cheer on the Iowa Wild as they play against the Texas Stars. Enjoy postgame fireworks.

$5 enter and $5 meal deals. Unlimited inflatable fun, music, games, and prizes. Two balloon drops at 7:30 p.m. One for 6 years and under and another for kids ages 7 years and older.

Drop off/pick up times vary depending on site

$70 overnight only; $95 per day camp and overnight

Why let Mom and Dad have all the fun this New Year’s Eve? Have your own party! We will be ringing in the new year in style at Camp Hantesa! Stay up late, dance, play games and much more. Meals and snacks provided.
