New Year’s Eve … Eve 

Indianola Public Library 

Saturday, December 30 

10:30 to 11:15 a.m.

Ring in the (almost) New Year at the 2nd annual NYEE party! Stories, crafts, activities, and BALLOONS, of course. All ages. Children 6 & under must be accompanied by an adult.

Saturday STEM: New Year’s Edition 

Franklin Public Library 

Saturday, December 30 

11 to 11:45 a.m.

Join for some fun and science! You will make confetti poppers, sparkly slime, and use baking soda, vinegar and confetti to create fun eruptions. Ages 5-12.

Jolly Holiday Lights


Saturday, December 30 

5:30 p.m. until park reaches capacity

Enjoy the last night of an Iowa tradition, Jolly Holiday Lights. Jolly Holiday Lights is a drive-through holiday light display that is set up annually by Make-A-Wish Iowa at Adventureland. Since it began in 1995, the event has raised enough money to grant more than 700 wishes to Iowa kids! Admission is $20 per car.

Noon Year’s Eve

Science Center of Iowa

9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Why should adults have all the fun ringing in the New Year at midnight? Bring the whole family to SCI to celebrate the New Year 12 hours early with face painting, balloon twisting and, of course, a massive balloon drop as we count down to 2018 at 12:00 noon!

Pump it Up Urbandale

Enjoy a noon years eve jump and balloon drop! There will be hats and noisemakers. $10 pre register and $12 at the door.

Countdown to Noon 

Warrior Lanes 

Sunday, December 31 

11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Countdown to the “noon” year at Warrior Lanes! Enjoy glow-in-the-dark bowling, concert lights and black lights. $55 per lane and includes 2 hours of bowling, shoe rental, large 1-topping pizza and soda. Deadline for registration is Friday, December 29.


GuideOne ImaginEve 

Iowa Events Center 

Sunday, December 31

4 to 8 p.m.

Join us for Des Moines’ biggest New Year’s Eve party for kids at GuideOne ImaginEve! Kids and families will enjoy a countdown to the New Year with a Times Square-like confetti drop at 8 p.m. in Hy-Vee Hall.

Snow White, The Polynesian Princess and Princess Beauty will all be there to celebrate and make sure your last hours of 2017 are magical!

This FREE family fun event features inflatable rides and bounce houses, carnival games with prizes, character meet and greets, toddler zone and dancers! For kids ages 10 and up, GuideOne ImaginEve offers a Tween Zone, with special activities just for kids ages 10 and up. The evening will wrap up with a spectacular fireworks show at 8:15 p.m.

New Year’s Fun

Celebrate the New Year at the Des Moines Children’s Museum. In addition to our fun exhibits we will have a fun Year in Review sheet for your children to fill out, a photo booth and we will be creating Memory Maker Holders for your children to take home with them.

Cheer on the Iowa Wild as they play against the Chicago Wolves. Enjoy free Crash’s Kids Meal which includes one hot dog, one soda and one popcorn.
