2020 National 4-H Week

2020 National 4-H Week

2020 National 4-H Week is October 4-10

Polk County 4-H is part of America’s largest youth development organization where collectively we empower nearly six million young people with the skills to lead for a lifetime. At Polk County 4-H we offer youth research-based experiences that include a mentor, a hands-on project, and a meaningful leadership opportunity. Our programs encourage youth to build leadership, citizenship, communication, and life skills while giving them a strong foundation in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) disciplines.

Last year, Polk County 4-H served nearly 3,000 youth through:

  • 4-H and Clover Kids Clubs:
  • Afterschool programs
  • Summer camps
  • Leadership conferences and retreats

As we celebrate National 4-H Week October 4-10, Polk County 4-H is excited to participate in the Give.Grow.Iowa 4-H campaign on October 6. Give. Grow. Iowa 4-H is a 24-hour online event mobilizing current and past 4-H’ers, their families, and the community to raise awareness and financial support. We hope to engage 4-H alumni from all over Polk County and the state, and have fun promoting 4-H experiences through social media.

Everyone is encouraged to join in the fun on October 6. There are several ways to participate:

  • Wear green on Tuesday, October 6
  • Use #GrowIowa4H on social media, sharing 4-H memories and old photos
  • Give any amount to Polk County 4-H (or other4-H  programs)

All the money raised from Give. Grow. Iowa 4-H will go directly back to local 4-H programming. In Polk County funds will help to support innovative experiences like our Virtual Summer Camps series, Mindful Teen workshops, or career exploration activities; allow us to offer scholarships and financial support to youth in need; provide materials and supplies; and much more!

In addition to donating to the local Polk County 4-H program, participants can give specifically to one of the four Iowa 4-H priority areas: Communication & the Arts, Healthy Living, Leadership & Civic Engagement and STEM.
