Meal Planning: The Truth

Des Moines Parent is starting a new “segment” on the blog! I am super excited for it and KNOW every single parent will benefit from it!

Meal planning. It is one of those things that every parent either LOVES or dreads each day, week, and month. I do not remember the term “meal planning” at all when growing up. I don’t remember stocked freezers with labels. I remember making shopping lists, going to the grocery store and then eating!

In today’s day and age, we are surrounded by Pinterest, Facebook, food blogs, Instagram, and more. The truth … it brings me lots of anxiety! All these beautiful plans, recipes, meals being prepared, weekly preps, monthly preps … I have finally learned that every family is not the same. Every family does not benefit from weekly meal planning OR monthly meal planning.

For example, my husband is home maybe 1-2 nights a week. The rest of the evenings it’s myself, a toddler, and baby. Making a HUGE meal every night, does not work for us. It has taken a bit to discover what works, but I think we finally have a routine down.

I am not going to tell you what I think works or does not work. I am going to start creating a resource for YOU. It will be a place where you can come and discover all the options and make the decision that is right for you and your family.
