There is a slew of festive flicks that my family enjoys watching each and every holiday season, but How the Grinch Stole Christmas! is always at the top of the list! So, you can bet that I’ll be hosting the ultimate Grinch movie night at home this year.

I think this year, in particular, owes us some serious holiday fun, don’t you? Our family movie nights are already pretty enjoyable, but add some Grinch flavor and we’re really cookin’ with gas!

So, how do you plan the ultimate Grinch movie night at home? Well, first I suggest you do it over the kids’ holiday break. I’m a big fan of letting the kids stay up late as a special treat on movie nights. And no parent wants to deal with waking up youngsters who are crankier than usual.

Ok, now that we have that out-of-the-way, let’s talk about which Grinch movie you’re going to watch. I’ve always loved the classic How the Grinch Stole Christmas! cartoon version, but the Jim Carey live-action version, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, is pretty good too. And if you ask my kids, the latest cartoon version, Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch, would be their top pick.

As you can see, you have options. Once you have your particular movie selected, think about timing. I prefer putting on the movie after dinner, so one of us doesn’t have to worry about doing the dishes while the rest of the family curls up on the couch, but that’s me.

You could always embrace brinner and throw out a serve yourself pancake station if you want to start your movie earlier. But let’s just say you’re going to take my advice for a movie night that commences a little later in the evening …

You’re obviously going to need snacks. Because after you gather loads of pillows and throw blankets to cozy up under, it will be time to lay out an epic Grinch snack spread. On that note, I shared a bunch of tasty Grinch treats for your noshing pleasure below.

But first, don’t forget to put out some on theme jammies for your family to change into if they’re game for that sort of thing! If you have actual Grinch pajamas, that’s great, but you could simply rock red and green sweats. That’s how you take your Grinch movie night at home to the next level!

Ok, let’s talk about that food now … As I mentioned, every Grinch movie night needs a super sweet spread! Oh, and did I mention that all these Grinch recipes are super easy to make? We want your movie night to look like the ultimate effort, but we don’t want you to spend too much time on your preparations.

Grinch Activity Ideas

Ok, now that your Grinch movie night menu is covered, what about a Grinch activity or two? In case your little ones start to get restless while you’re whipping up those snacks, you might want to have a couple of Grinch activities, like Grinch paper plates or Grinch handprints, on hand to keep them busy!

You could even overachiever it and hand out Grinch party favors! Hey, just because it’s only you and the kids, doesn’t mean it’s not a party!

And there you have it. I’d say these Grinch recipes and activity ideas more than put you on the right track to give your family the ultimate Grinch movie night at home, wouldn’t you?
