Living History Farms Race

Living History Farms

November 21st 

9 am 

The 37th annual Living History Farms Race, put on by Fitness Sports, raises funds for Living History Farms and others. Over the last 15 years, the race has given $550,000 to Living History Farms.

You will again be challenged by the world’s richest farm land as you wade through creeks, dodge animals and claw your way to the top of gullies with 7500 (limit) other runners of questionable senses. It’s a great way to end the racing season and experience running stories to re-live and re-tell throughout the winter. Stay for the “Outdoors in November” post race lunch, door prizes and awards ceremony.

Wee & Me Yoga “Let’s Give Thanks”

Prepare your body and your heart for this season of gratitude and thanksgiving with a Wee & Me Yoga “Let’s Give Thanks” special event! You and your child will move together, breathe together, and give thanks. This unique curriculum embraces your child’s need to move while calming, restoring, and re-energizing you.

Cost: $5 for the first child with a $10 family max. Ages 18 months and up with a caregiver. Space is limited and your reservation is required.

Talking Turkey

It’s Thanksgiving time and turkey is on everyone’s mind. Join us for a fun turkey themed family night at the Annett Nature Center. Learn about Wild Turkeys, examine turkey feathers, eggs, wing, tails, feet and tracks. Listen to the sounds a wild turkey makes. You will get to make a turkey craft, enjoy a turkey snack and make your own turkey call to take home. Please register by the day before!

Disney on Ice: Dare to Dream

Join your hosts Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse for a princess-packed adventure. Laugh along with Disney’s hair-raising escapade, Tangled, as Rapunzel, Flynn and Maximus embark on an uproarious journey that takes adventure to new lengths! Travel to the enchanted forest with Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs as she escapes from the Evil Queen in her search for her one true love. Dreams become reality as Cinderella meets her Prince Charming, with a glass slipper fit for an unforgettable fantasy come true. Boogie to the beat of the bayou with Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen from Disney’s The Princess and the Frog, in a magical, musical journey that begins with a fateful kiss. The whole family will delight in the beauty, sparkle and spirit of the ultimate Disney Princess event of a lifetime!

Des Moines Turkey Trot

The 2015 Des Moines Turkey Trot highlights all that downtown has to offer. Athletes will start their Thanksgiving run with the Des Moines Courthouse as their backdrop in the heart of the Court District. From there both 5K and 5 mile runners will make their way across the Des Moines River and through the center of the East Village. From there it’s uphill (slightly) to where athletes will run past all of the buildings of the capitol complex, including a final pass in front of the State Capitol on Finkbine Ave before returning back down the hill towards the home-straight.

5 Mile Athletes will finish their holiday “tour” with a scenic jaunt to the Botanical Center before returning across the Women’s Achievement Bridge running down-stream along the west-bank of the Des Moines River.

Erin is a reliable resource and stepping stone for women and families to find support and make connections within our community. She wants families to feel confident to reach out and ask for help and advice to get pointed in the right direction. She enjoys traveling and exploring with her two children in tow!
