Sometimes as a parent I dream about what a little bit of peace and quiet would be like. No questions, no whining, and no kids hanging on me sounds like it would be quite nice. So when I saw on the news the other day that Central now has a business that offers Flotation Therapy I was a bit intrigued. To be honest, the first thing I thought of when I saw the news is an episode of Portlandia I saw that featured a trip to a Float Tank business in Portland, Oregon. It’s pretty funny. So creepy or not, 60 minutes of quiet relaxation Flotation Therapy sounds pretty good right about now. So what exactly is a Float tank that is involved in Flotation Therapy? It’s a tank filled with water that has enough Epsom salt mixed in to allow a person to float on the surface. The water is kept at skin-temperature, making it virtually imperceptible. The room is virtually sound-proof and the interior of the tank is pitch-black, creating a place for our bodies to be free from gravity and all stimulation from the outside world.
Doesn’t sound too bad does it? In fact if the management at Fadeaway Flotation Therapy in West Des Moines happen to read this post, please let me try it and let everybody know how much peace and relaxation this can bring to my fellow parents.
