Father’s Day is Sunday, June 18 this year. There are several ways to spend the day with your dad. Check out some events and activities going on Father’s Day weekend. Iowa Cubs 

June 17 at 7:08 p.m. & June 18 at 1:08 p.m.

Take your father to an Iowa Cubs game at Principal Park. The Iowa Cubs are home for the weekend playing Omaha. Does your dad enjoy biking? Pedal to the Park also takes place Sunday. Bike to the game! After the Sunday game, kids can run the bases. Buy tickets here!

Father’s Day at Reiman Gardens

Sunday, June 18

9 a.m. – 6 p.m.

In honor of Father’s Day all dads can visit Reiman Gardens for free. Spend the day wandering around the gardens with your dad.

Father’s Day at Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden

Sunday, June 18

10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Enjoy walking around the gardens at the Des Moines Botanical Garden. All father’s receive free admission.

Swim for Free with Des Moines Parks & Recreation 

Sunday, June 18

1 p.m.

Father’s receive free admission to any Des Moines pool or aquatic center. Cool off and swim with dad!

Historic Baseball Game at Living History Farms

Sunday, June 18

1:30 p.m.

Take your dad out for a an 1870’s-rules baseball game. There is not overhand pitching, the hitter can request the height of his pitch and more. All games are free with paid admission to Living History Farms. Spend the day exploring the farms and catch the game.

Bass Pro Shops

Buy your father a gift card to Bass Pro Shops. Not only to shop, but you can spend the afternoon dining and bowling at their restaurant Uncle Buck’s Fish Bowl & Grill. Afterwards, help your dad pick out new hiking, fishing, or boating equipment.

Fathers & Families Cookout 

John R. Grubb Community YMCA

Saturday, June 24

3 p.m. – 6 p.m.

This fun event is for the entire family. Men will gather to share their favorite dish with family and friends. There will be family activities including music, games, face painting, bounce houses and more. Learn more details here.

She wants families to feel confident to reach out and ask for help and advice to get pointed in the right direction. She enjoys traveling and exploring with her two children in tow!
