Family Fun for New Year’s Eve


New Year’s Eve is just right around the corner and it’s always a good idea to plan ahead.  If you are looking for a family friendly option this year for the big day check out one of these fun events in Central Iowa:


Join in the fun on Wednesday, December 31st from 4-8pm at HyVee Hall for Des Moines’ biggest New Year’s Eve party for kids at GuideOne ImaginEve! Kids and families will enjoy a countdown to the New Year with a Times Square-like confetti drop at 8 p.m.  This free family fun event features inflatable rides and bounce houses, mascots, carnival games with prizes, costumed characters, toddler zone, and dancers. For kids ages 10 and up, GuideOne ImaginEve offers a Tween Zone, with the Iowa Wild’s Slapshot hockey, Game Truck, Laser Tag, for kids ages 10 and up! The evening will wrap up with a spectacular fireworks show at 8:15 p.m.!

This one-of-a-kind family event encourages family members of all ages to enjoy New Year’s Eve in a safe, responsible way and participate in a wide variety of activities. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Noon Year’s Eve

Why should adults have all the fun ringing in the New Year at midnight?  Bring the whole family to the Science Center of Iowa on Wednesday, December 31st to celebrate the New Year 12 hours early!  Join in the fun for a massive balloon drop in Founders Hall and celebrate with noisemakers as we kick off 2015 at 12:00 noon!

Activities and special guests include:

  • Face painting (10:00 am to 1:00 pm)
  • Balloon twisting (10:00 am to 1:00 pm)

Noon Year’s Eve activities are included with general admission – always free for SCI members!

Bounce in the New Year

Pump It Up is hosting a party for you and your family! Join us 10:00am-12:00pm for some New Years fun. Balloon Drop 12:00pm. It’s a great way to end 2014 — with fun, quality family time! We will have all the inflatable fun you can handle! Each child will recieve New Years party favors. So bring the kids in for their celebration before you go out for your celebrations! This is the perfect way to celebrate with your children before going out for the evening. $10 per child pre-registered and $12 at the door. Don’t wait! Space is limited so reserve your spot today.

New Year’s Eve Family Celebration

Ring in 2015 at Lutheran Church of Hope with fun for the whole family! A DJ, balloon drop, scavenger hunt and various games and prizes will be offered. The night will begin with music in the Worship Center with Matt Baird at 6:30 pm. No cost – all are invited, so bring your friends!
