Walnut Creek YMCA

Come on down to our Annual Easter Egg Hunt. Free and open to everybody! After the hunt is over we will open our building to have inflatables, dodge ball, crafts and other activities for all ages.

2019 Family Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt

Friday, April 12

8:15 to 9:45 p.m. 

Pickard Recreation Area, Indianola

When the sun goes down, the fun begins! Participants need to bring a sack or basket, and their own flashlight (size limited to 2 ‘D’ cell batteries). After the hunt prizes will be awarded and then join us for s’mores around the campfire! Pre-registration is required.

The fee is $7.50/child for nonresidents or $6/child for Indianola residents. Adults are free. Registration deadline is Friday, April 5, or when full. Rain date will Saturday, April 13.

Free Easter Egg Hunt & Festivities

They will have Easter egg hunt, face painting, balloon art, snacks, and an appearance from the Easter Bunny! This is a free event to attend. Easter Egg Hunt will begin at 1:30 pm.

Eggstravaganza! An Egg Hunt for Dogs

Saturday, April 13

Animal Rescue League 

Let your dog enjoy the thrill of the hunt…for treats. Hidden throughout the dog park will be Easter eggs filled with dog treats. When your dog touches the plastic eggs with their nose, into your basket it goes. Once all of the eggs are found, dogs can be let off leash to play with their new dog friends in the park! Registration is just $5 per dog. You’ll also have the option to get your dog’s photo taken for $10, and we’ll email you a copy of the digital file.

Special Egg Event

Iowa State Fairgrounds

The Special Egg Event is a free Easter egg hunt for children with special needs and their families. Enjoy food, carnival games, activity areas, and egg hunts that are designed for your child.
A Quiet Egg Hunt for children at the Autism Spectrum or children with Sensory Processing issues who need a quieter environment. Children who do not need a calm sensory environment should sign up for the general egg hunt. A Beeping Egg Hunt for children who are blind or visually impaired. A Magnetic Egg Hunt for children with wheelchairs or mobility restrictions. Magnetic eggs and poles allow children to collect eggs.

Grown-up Egg Hunt

Waukee Public Library

Don’t let kids have all the fun! Teens and adults are invited to bring a flashlight and go on an egg hunt at the library. Lucky egg hunters may win cash, chocolate, gift certificates to local businesses, and other great prizes. Cookies will be served while participants wait for the hunt to begin. In case of inclement weather, the hunt will take place inside the library (still via flashlight!). The hunt doesn’t last long, so you will want to make sure to arrive on time!

This event is for ages 13+ only for the safety of participants.

This event is a fundraiser for teen programs at the library. Tickets will be available at the library or online starting March 15. Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door, and they are non-refundable.

Your family will love this new-age way of hunting eggs. Learn how to use a GPS and go search the park to find the Conservation Bunny’s nests of hidden treasures, collecting prizes and candy along the way! Be sure to keep an eye out for the “golden egg” containing special giveaways. Space is limited, so register early! Pre-registration required; deadline is April 10. The fee of $5 per collector (any child 3-14 years old.)

Natural Egg Dying

Jester Park Nature Center

Your kitchen is full of natural dyes. Common food items such as red cabbage, onion skins, and coffee can be used to transform plain white eggs into colorful Easter gems. Kids will especially love discovering all the different colors they can create — let them experiment using hard-boiled eggs and bowls of cold dyes. Pre-registration required; deadline is April 15. Fee: $5. The class will take place at the Outdoor Recreation & Wellness Center located next to the Nature Center.

Easter Treasure Hunt & Pancake Brunch

The Bridge Campus of Meredith Drive Reformed Church

9:30 AM HUNT & 10:30 AM BRUNCH Parents, grandparents, or other adults are invited to attend a special Easter hunt with their child at The Bridge as they learn more about the real meaning of Easter!  It’s all about Jesus! Their Easter Treasure Hunt has a group for preschoolers through kindergarteners and another group geared for elementary kids in 1st-4th grades.  Join them afterward for a pancake brunch at 10:30 AM.

Come and hunt for the real meaning of Easter! There is no need to bring an Easter basket, and we kindly ask that an adult attends with their child.

If you have children in both age groups, we would be happy to supervise your older child in the elementary Easter egg hunt. Please arrive 15 minutes early so we can get all the guests settled in their age-appropriate groups!

Reiman Gardens 

It’s spring! It’s spring! Come to Reiman Gardens to enjoy a hearty breakfast, say hello to the Easter Bunny and hunt for eggs.  Stop in and visit the Hughes Conservatory, and take a walk through the Butterfly Wing when it opens at 9:00 a.m. See what’s popping up outside as we move into a new growing season, and head to Reiman Gardens’ Gift Shop for help in filling up Easter baskets.

Registration and payment are required by Friday, April 12, 2019.

Welcome Spring with a day of fun for the whole family! The 1875 town of Walnut Hill comes together to celebrate Easter with ongoing egg and toy hunts (divided by age), horse-drawn wagon rides, egg rolling, pancake flipping, a visit from the Easter bunny, and more. Living History Farms’ Family Easter is full of traditional holiday activities with a small-town twist. Enjoy free pop and popcorn for all and free breakfast wraps for the first 500 visitors.

Make sure you arrive early. Children will be divided into age groups to dive for colored eggs in the pool. Each egg will be turned in for a prize. Diving will begin with the youngest age group and continue until all age groups have participated. $6 admission.

Come join Farrell’s Waukee in the first annual community Easter Egg hunt! Designed for kids 10 and under. We will have two separate areas – one for kids under 4 and one for kids 4 and older. This class offers you the pre-cooked sugar cookies with all the Easter frosting colors (purple, pink, yellow, white, green) and sprinkles you can imagine getting your decorating! We provide you with turntables, frosting tips, and frosting colors. All participants 8+ are required to have a ticket. Tickets are not able to be purchased at the door.
