Shop for Local Holiday Items Safely at the Drive-Through Winter Farmers’ and Makers’ Market
Holiday shopping is usually a time for bustling shops and multiple stops. But as we wade through the holidays amid the COVID-19 pandemic, shopping for friends and family will look different in 2020. While our stops may be limited, we can still show local businesses, family, and friends what they mean to us by purchasing Iowa-made items at the Drive-Through Des Moines Winter Farmers’ and Makers’ Market.
Here’s what you need to know about this new event.
Time + Place
As you begin to plan for the upcoming holidays, consider attending the Winter Farmers’ and Makers’ Market from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, November 21 at the Principal Park parking lot, 1 Line Drive, in Downtown Des Moines (DSM).
It’s easy to purchase from local suppliers through the Drive-Through Winter Online Marketplace. From the Marketplace, check out business profiles and view products from more than 30 Iowa sellers, including items like coffee, apple pie, cheese varieties, honey, artisan soaps, jewelry, and more. Add items to your shopping cart and pick them up from vendors on Saturday, November 21.
Share the Love
Once you’ve picked up your items, consider sharing your purchases on social media (if you’re not gifting them). Help us celebrate our local small business owners by using the #DSMlocal and #MaskUpDSM hashtags and tagging their business in your post. Learn more about buying local in DSM here.
