Self-Care: 3 Des Moines Businesses Just For Mom
Self-care is hard to implement when you are juggling motherhood, house duties, working, and date nights with your significant other. Moms, I feel you. The past few years self-care for myself has flown out the window and it begins to take a toll on your life.
When we do not take the time to focus on ourselves it begins to affect other areas of our lives including motherhood, work, and relationships. Most of the time we do not realize these differences until we stop and take time for ourselves.
These past few months I have been striving to slow down and take time for myself. I can tell you right now it is not easy and I am no way consistent with. My word for 2019 is ‘consistency‘. I am working weekly to really focus on myself and I am forever grateful for three Des Moines businesses that are helping me along the way.
These three Des Moines businesses know the struggles of mom life. They care about the whole you. They care about how you are feeling mentally, physically and emotionally. Motherhood is hard and I am happy that I have these three businesses in my corner.

If you follow me on Instagram you may have seen I began Burn Bootcamp in November. I have tried several workout classes and boot camps and they were fun, but I never was able to stay consistent. I finally took the plunge and was hooked. Burn Bootcamp does not just focus on losing weight, but they care about the whole picture. How are you feeling? What are you struggling with at home?
They believe in small steps and that is one thing I love. It is easy to be overwhelmed with all the things you may want to change, but studies show that you are much more successful with small changes over time.
Personally, my goal is to attend a camp 3-4 times a week. That is my consistent goal. Right now, it is a struggle. A lot of sickness and weather makes it difficult. Burn Bootcamp understands and meets you where you are.
Interested in trying out a camp? Let me know! I would love to have you join me.

This local business and the women who take care of you are amazing. Our bodies after pregnancies may need some extra lovin’ and that is okay. The women at Breathe are knowledgable and provide you with great resources and exercises that you can implement in your busy mom life.
Pain or soreness from breastfeeding, carrying around car seats or children, beginning a new workout regimen (such as Burn Bootcamp), pain during intercourse, headaches, pelvic pain, incontinence and so much more. Whatever issue you may have, I recommend you set up an appointment with Breathe to discuss a game plan.

Alright so you are getting some movement in your life, making healthier food choices, working on some discomfort you may be having, but what about your largest organ? Your skin.
Skin Body Soul Spa offers many services including my new favorite a hydrafacial. A hydrafacial includes exfoliation, extraction, hydration and antioxidant protection. It is really the ultimate experience for your skin. I always feel so refreshed when I leave and days after.
Looking to remove unwanted hair? Skin Body Soul Spa also offers laser hair removal. I am currently receiving treatments to remove some pesky, postpartum facial hair. It is crazy how such a small thing can build so much more confidence.
The women at Skin Body Soul Spa are very knowledgable and are not there to push procedures and products on you. They discuss what you are using, what facials you may have done in the past and meet you where you are. I was extremely impressed when I met with Cassie and she chatted with me about diet, changing my pillowcases, and more to help with my skin.
