We all know early exposure to music makes kids smarter. Studies have shown math scores are higher when a child learns to read music. When a child performs in front of others, it builds a child’s self-esteem.
Debbie Doo Wop, a Des Moines native, has been teaching young child music classes for over 20 years. Debbie attended Dowling, then the University of Iowa for Music and then was a band director for 8 years at St. Augustin. She currently teaches over 40 private piano, vocal and brass private lessons and teaches 10 young child music classes a week. Debbie Doo Wop has produced and written 2 children’s albums with her partner, Dynamite Dan.
They have performed all around central Iowa at DSM Arts Festival, Every Family Rocks at the Science center, Blank Park Zoo, Des Moines Farmers Market and almost all the libraries in central Iowa. Debbie has written her own young child curriculum and uses original music in her classes.
