Creative Habitat: It Takes a Village

Imagine walking into a community of like-minded entrepreneurial moms who are there to support you and your kids in both parenting and business development.  Picture a space where mother nature meets mother nurture. This is what we are designing at Creative Habitat. It is our mission to create a supportive environment where families can work, play, and grow in community and invest in their God-given creativity. This nurturing environment or what we fondly call a “Creative Habitat” is what allows everyone to leverage the group’s collective strengths and creative gifts as a whole.

It takes a village to raise a child and it takes a village to grow a business. Creative Habitat is bringing back the village one family at a time. We aim to restore work/life balance and offer community support for women seeking business development and quality childcare resources as they are growing their businesses and families. At Creative Habitat, we provide workspace for parents, play space for kids, and creative coworking space for all!  We partner with local spaces in the community to offer our programming and services.  New partner spaces are updated regularly on our website.

Strengths-based development and creative collaboration are a fundamental focus of our signature co-op childcare model and programming for both women and their kids. We incorporate strengths coaching and faith-based principles into all of our programs and curriculum. Our services aim to provide community support, economic vitality, and personal and professional growth for central Iowa families including the following:

Summer Co-Op Program

Our 10-week summer program runs from June 10th through August 16th. During our summer program, we partner with local creative habitats like the DSM Children’s Museum and Valley Community Center to offer our coworking + childcare services.  Our Co-Op meets weekday mornings from 9-12. Imagine what 3 hours a day of focused time could do for your business this summer!

The Mother Board

The Mother Board provides a safe and inclusive space for entrepreneurial moms to discuss strategies in both running a business and running a household.  Mother Board meetings will be similar to board room communication where important strategies are discussed but more laid back and kid friendly. We are all mom entrepreneurs after all!  Moms and business owners of all ages and stages are welcome to join. We will meet on the first Tuesday of every month from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Valley Community Center.

Strengths Coaching

Research has proven we are more productive and satisfied when we play to our strengths.  Sometimes in the busyness of life, we can lose sight of what those strengths are. If you are interested in discovering or rediscovering your strengths and discussing strategies to apply those strengths in both business and parenting, you can schedule a coaching session with one of our Gallup-Certified Strengths Coaches.

If you are looking for a village of support in business and parenting, you’ve found it! We hope to see you soon. For more information about Creative Habitat’s programs and services, you can follow us on Facebook or Instagram @creativehabitatmoms. You are also welcome to email Rebecca Wolford at
