DM Young Artists’ Theatre

A Charlie Brown Christmas

December 26th – December 30th 

Students will work with professional theatre artists to learn a thirty-minute musical in one week. They will learn the music, staging and character development while contributing to the construction and painting of scenery, props and costumes. 

At the end of the week, a performance will be presented for family and friends to celebrate the students’ hard work and the end of the year.

Living History Farms

Winter Break Camp 

December 27th – December 30th 

Registration begins November 2nd for members and on November 9th for non-members.

Spend a day of winter break at Living History Farms! They have camps for 2nd-5th graders, or a family camp for parents and kids to experience together. Different themes include: Iowa Statehood Day, Victorian Holidays, Celebrations Around the World,  and Flynn Family Camp. Register here!

Des Moines Botanical Garden

Winter Break 2016

 Looking for a fun family experience over Winter Break? Join the Des Moines Botanical Garden  drop-in activities ( and special workshops. Drop-in activities (held 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.) are free with your paid admission. Garden Growers and Art in the Garden workshops require registration. Story Sprouts will run on Friday, December 30 during the regular time of 10:30 – 11:15 a.m. and will be free with admission.

Building with Gingerbread, Garden Growers, ages 5-11
