As a child, I was always extremely fascinated by space, astronauts, and the moon. I cannot wait to take this opportunity to share this wonderful celebration with them.

Moon Sunday is a newly-released children’s picture book written and illustrated by two local women: Deanne Bryce and Holly Norian. The story is about a 9-year-old girl named Luna and her experience of the Apollo 11 moon landing. Her mom is an engineer who works with the space program and her dad is a teacher. Luna is also very interested in physics and space. While she waits for the “Man-on-TV” to announce when the astronauts will walk on the moon, she teaches her younger brother Peter how rockets work.

And for your kiddos to learn how rockets work, the Moon Sunday team is planning multiple opportunities this summer for families to attend book reading events, some of which will also include hands-on activities for kids to learn—like Luna and Peter—those big problems can be solved with strong will, brainpower, science, and teamwork.
