3 Things Every New Parent Needs

First time parents normally get a lot of gifts from friends and families at baby showers.  Most of it is clothes, baby toys, diapers and other essential baby supplies.  Yes, you need these things, well except for the 80 pairs of pajamas, but what are some out of the ordinary things you might need?  You know, the items that experienced parents know about.  Here are 3 Things Every New Parent Needs:

1. Batteries (Lots of them) – You will go thru tons of batteries as a parent.  Baby toys and monitors will have you changing batteries all the time.  My advice…. Buy in bulk at your local Costco or Sam’s Club.  Stock up on AA and AAA.  Buying in bulk will save you money and save your from having to run to the store all the time.

2. Carpet Cleaning Machine – Yes, babies and kids are messy.  The 3 P’s (Pee, Poop and Puke) will at some point end up on your carpet or furniture.  The initial investment of the carpet cleaning machine will pay for itself many times over the next couple of years.  Plus having it readily on hand will let you clean it up quickly before the stain sets in too bad.

3. Waterproof Mattress Pad and Pillow Cover – Most new parents only buy these for their child’s bed.  Don’t stop there, get a set for your bed as well.  Because when your child at some point ends up sick they normally find their way into your bed.  This means you could end up with puke or pee on your mattress.  Nobody wants that.  With the waterproof mattress pad if your bed gets soiled, just take it off and wash it.  No damage to your mattress to worry about.
