When dealing with your sick child it’s always best to visit your primary pediatrician or family doctor, but sometimes that’s not always possible. From my experience kids always seem to get sick after your normal doctor is closed or when it’s too late to get an appointment for the day. So what do you do then? Sometimes you don’t have the luxury of waiting until the next day. Luckily Central Iowa has lots of options for walk-in and urgent care clinics. Whether it’s late in the evening or on the weekend, here are some places where you can take your sick or injured child:
DoctorsNow – DoctorsNow provides care for non-life threatening illnesses and injuries. No appointments. 3 Central Iowa locations that are open: Monday-Friday 8am-8pm, Saturday 10am-6pm, Sunday Noon-6pm
Mercy Urgent Care Clinics – With 6 metro area urgent care clinics, Mercy Clinics offers you with a choice when you’re seeking non-emergency medical care. Urgent care clinics offer convenient daytime, evening and weekend hours and no appointment is necessary. Mercy Urgent Care Clinics are open Monday-Friday, 7 am-9 pm and Saturday-Sunday, 9 am-4 pm.
UnityPoint Walk-In & Urgent Care – UnityPoint Clinic has 5 convenient locations throughout the metropolitan area that accept walk-in patients for non-emergency situations every day of the week. 4 of the locations are open Monday-Friday 8am-8pm, Saturday & Sunday 9am-3pm with the Urbandale location being open Monday-Friday 7:30am-9pm, Saturday 8am-6pm and Sunday 9am-6pm.
Of course if it’s the middle of the night and you have a serious situation than it’s time to head to the Emergency Room. 2 great choices are UnityPoint’s Blank Children’s Hospital or Mercy’s Children Hospital.
