Santa is all over Central Iowa this holiday season. There are plenty of locations and times to let your kiddos tell Santa what they want for Christmas! Check out the list below. Santa Arrives at Bass Pro Shops

Magical tree lighting, Unveiling of Santa’s Wonderland®, Carolers, Santa will be giving away a $25 Bass Pro Shops® gift card to one lucky winner every half-hour; 5:30-7:30pm. FREE craft and Outdoor Plush Buddie (November 15, 6-8pm). FREE cookies and McSteven’s hot chocolate! Santa will be at Bass Pro Shop & Santa’s Wonderland will be open daily everyday until December 24th!

Jingle in the Junction

Join us for “Jingle in the Junction”! The businesses in Historic Valley Junction and the streets will be lined with over 150,000 twinkling lights. Along with your old favorites, such as FREE horse and trolley rides, Santa, and caroling, watch Bill Gordish carve beautiful ice sculptures, Professor Von Air create balloon magic, and enjoy our petting zoo!

Jordan Creek Towncenter

Santa Claus is coming to “town” as in Jordan Creek “Town” Center! The community is invited to celebrate the season by gathering for Santa’s arrival. Jordan Creek’s tradition includes live music, a special tree lighting ceremony and lakeside fireworks. Mason’s Basement will begin playing crowd favorites in Jordan Creek’s amphitheater at 6:00 p.m. During the concert finale, Santa will throw a fireball across the lake magically lighting the 40-foot Blue Spruce signaling the official start of the holiday season. Following the tree lighting, everyone is invited to warm up inside Jordan Creek where Santa’s Photo Shop will open on the lower level Younkers Wing for boys and girls eager to share their wish lists. This special community Tree Lighting tradition at Jordan Creek Town Center is sponsored by Veridian Credit Union

Santa Express

Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad

November 27th – Starts! Dates and times thru December 20th! Check here for all the details! 

Enjoy a 1+ hour round trip ride from the Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad depot, to the North Pole, and return. You will be served hot chocolate and cookies, and receive a special gift from Santa. Arrive in your pajamas and prepare for a great adventure.Children in first class receive a special commemorative Santa Express mug, a large gold bell, cookies, and hot chocolate.

Spirit of the Season

Spirit of the Season is the Science Center of Iowa’s annual holiday season of celebration, a month packed full of holiday-themed programming presented by Nationwide. Kick off the holiday season with a night of celebration featuring winter-themed programs, an electrifying tree lighting, $5 IMAX tickets for The Polar Express and outdoor fireworks to end the evening. From 5:00-8:00 pm, admission is FREE to the public! A visit from Santa Claus!

Santa Claus is coming to town! Come early and help him light the holiday tree in Triangle Park then visit with him at the Community Center while you warm up with hot chocolate and cookies. Join the Waukee Area Arts Council and the downtown businesses for special holiday crafts and open houses.

Living History Farms Family Christmas

Join us for a holiday open house filled with Christmas cheer! Bundle up for a horse-drawn wagon ride to visit the festive Flynn Mansion. Enjoy an old fashioned holiday social with dance music by the Barn Owl Band in the Church of the Land. Kids will enjoy printing their own holiday greeting cards, decorating cookies, making crafts, and visiting Santa Claus! Adults can shop for unique gifts in the MarketPlace Museum Store (open noon-8pm). Prices: $6.50/person; $5.00 LHF member. Advance: $6.00/person, $4.50 LHF member. Flashlight Candy Cane Hunt

It has been rumored that SOMEONE has left candy and candy canes on the ground, around the community shelter! Bring your bag and flashlight to find them all! After collecting all the candy enjoy hot cocoa inside the shelter house. Bring your camera for a picture with Santa. Register by December 5th. Fee is $7.

Kids, bring your parents to Reiman Gardens to enjoy a hearty breakfast buffet including eggs, bacon, donuts and rolls! Santa will visit along with his elf and polar bear friends from the North Pole. Create your own holiday ornament, visit the train exhibit in the conservatory and head to the Reiman Garden’s Gift Shop for stocking stuffers and unique gift ideas. There is something in the gift shop for everyone on your list.

Preregistration and prepayment required. Cost is $6 for member children ages one to twelve, and $8 for general public children ages one to twelve.

Boys and girls ages 3 through 7 can spend the morning visiting with Santa at the Lakeside Center. A paying adult must accompany all children. Each person eating breakfast must pay admission.
