Sneak a peek into the Top-Secret Personal Beeswax Journal of the outspoken and lovable Junie B. Jones. It’s the first day of school. Lucille doesn’t want to be Junie B.’s best friend anymore. There’s a new kid at school. And worst of all, Junie B.’s teacher, Mr. Scary, thinks she may need glasses! First grade has never been more exciting!

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

When eccentric inventor Caractacus Potts restores an old racing car, he and his children, Jeremy and Jemima, soon discover it has magical properties. Trouble occurs when the child-hating Baron Bomburst tries to capture the car for himself. Take a fantastic musical adventure with “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang,” the family holiday classic that Des Moines Community Playhouse audiences will find “Truly Scrumptious.”

Journey with Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy through the old wardrobe into the land of Narnia. Narnia is a magical land, populated by Tumnus the Faun, Mr. and Mrs. Beaver, unicorns, centaurs, and other forest animals. But danger lurks as The White Witch wages war against Narnia’s rightful king, Aslan the lion.

Sarah, Plain and Tall

In early 1900s Kansas, a widowed farmer with two children places an ad in the newspapers seeking a wife. He receives a letter from Sarah Wheaton of Maine who says she will visit the family for a month to see how things work out: “I will come by train. I will wear a yellow bonnet. I am plain and tall.” Thus begins the anything but plain tale of a family coming together when it is needed most.

Sideways Stories From Wayside School

May 6-22, 2016

Shows 7 PM Fridays, 1 PM & 4 PM Saturday & Sundays (1 PM only May 22)
Wayside School was supposed to be 30 classrooms, all on one story. Instead, the builder constructed a 30-story building, one classroom wide. Everything about Wayside School is wacky. The higher one climbs, the stranger the people and the things that happen to them. Be there for roll call at “Sideways Stories from Wayside School,” and you’ll laugh all the way to the 30th floor!
